What are your thoughts on Tiger Woods?
Wed, December 2, 2009

Tiger Woods says he has let his family down and regrets "those transgressions with all of my heart."

In a statement Wednesday on his website, Woods says he has not been "true to my values and the behaviour my family deserves." He offered his "profound apology" to his supporters.

In his statement, Woods did not offer details of any alleged relationship.

He also said he has been "dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means."

What are your thoughts on Woods' alleged extra-marital relationships? Have your say in our forum.

I wonder how many other people have found out that their spouse was cheating on them, since this story came out. 1, 10, 100, 1000 or maybe more. Yet we haven't heard a word of it, why? Oh yeah because it isn't news or important to anyone other than those involed.

Trainspotter is spot on. With a billion dollars of essentially the fans' money you can't be naive enough to think an event this significant will not be scrutinized. He accepted his position as a role model, he should accept the responsibility. Also, it's sad to hear people say that cheating on your pregnant wife is just a casual, everyday, human error.

I am so tired of hearing about Tiger Woods. When watching golf, you would think he was the only golfer in the tournament as the announcers seem to be only able to talk about him. As for comments of "he's only human", give me a break. Any human, celebrity or not, should not cheat on their spouse. This wasn't an "oops" one night stand. This so called relationship he had with this waitress went on for a while. And during his wife's pregnancy yet! And this waitress has commented that she wants to continue a friendship with Tiger. If I was in Elin's shoes I would have already kicked him out and would have a divorce lawyer. Makes you wonder how many other mistresses hes got on the side.

Who cares we have bigger problems in life to deal with than worrying about this garbage.

People seem to love it when these false idols fall from grace. The adoring public is part of the problem.First we build them up and wait for them to trip on their own success. And then when they stumble and fall,we rip them apart like a pack of dogs.

most guys would give their left "you know what" to have the life he has but he still wants more, more money, more women. Let this be a lesson to all greedy celebrities who put themselves in our homes for endorsements. Be happy with what you have or donate the funds from endorsements to a worthy cause, and I don't mean "cause" you don't have enough money yet!!

Billy Blanks:

You criticize everyone for weighing in on this topic then proceed to do the same thing yourself.

Can you say hypocrite?

It's unfortunate to see that Tiger Woods is a human being, as I'm certain alot of people believed he was God-like. He is fallible like the rest of society. This does not dimiss his incredible accomplishments in the sport of golf, nor does it reflect on his skills moving forward. We are always looking for people to emulate and envy, however, we usually end up realizing that they are subject to the same life challenges that the rest of us have to deal with. Perhaps moving forward we should look to idolize our soldiers bravely helping others in worn-torn countries or volunteers that sacrfifice their time for the betterment of strangers. Why don't we look closer to home for hero's, before placing all of our adoration on a complete stranger with skills superior to our own. Why can't we just respect athletes and actors for their amazing gifts, incredible abilities, and dedication and hard work towards their chosen field of work. Listen, I respect my boss for all he has accomplished, but I don't agree with his social choices. The two can be mutually exclusive.

For those saying that this is no big deal, would you still feel the same way if the roles were reversed. That is, if it were the hubby that was assaulting the wife and who then went after her with a golf club when she tried to flee. Or would we be hearing about "battered wives' syndrome" and how they stay in abusive situations and refuse to testify against their husbands?
