Will Toronto be a good host for the Pan Am Games? Fri, November 6, 2009
Toronto has won a bid to host the 2015 Pan American Games.
Just before 5 p.m. tonight the Pan American Sport Organization (PASO) in Guadalajara, Mexico, announced that Hogtown had earned the rights to host the games and the Parapan American Games.
With all the bad news going on in the world today, you'd think that the good news of the Pan Am games coming to Canada would be welcomed relief! I am happy to hear we won the bid. It will benefit Toronto, Ontario and Canada both economically as well as authenticity. Remember how excited we were when the Jays won the world series in 92 and 93? Think of how we're craving for a Stanley Cup? Won't the games bring fame and excitement?

Yet another money hole that we will be paying for years after the event has dimmed in memory...

As Bob McCown noted on one of his recent shows, no one gives a rat's ass about the Pan Am Games! One thing is for sure, any support it gets will have to come primarily from around Southern Ontario. I doubt if Americans in any great numbers will flock to see them.
It will wind up costing taxpayers a bundle.

there is no chance at all the ball will not be dropped and this city will not owe millions of dollars to someone...no chance whatsoever
