Will Toronto be a good host for the Pan Am Games? Fri, November 6, 2009
Toronto has won a bid to host the 2015 Pan American Games.
Just before 5 p.m. tonight the Pan American Sport Organization (PASO) in Guadalajara, Mexico, announced that Hogtown had earned the rights to host the games and the Parapan American Games.
Who REALLY cares. In the realm of "games" they really don't count for a whole lot.

Toronto does not deserve the Pan Am games or any other sporting event. I live in Toronto and the majority of the people here are arrogant couch potatoes who have a jealous hatred of athletes not wearing a Leafs jersey.

Let the recent immigrants from the Pan Am countries run the show and at least the food will be good!
Waste of money. Why not pay the Sun Bathed countries to hold the event while we take a jaunt into their territory for some R&R.

Toronto officials and others like to think of their city as a "World Class City". Anyone who thinks that hasn't seen much of the world. Aside from a few attractive pockets the city is a mess.
Maybe the Pan Am Games will help them to move closer to that title.

The 2010 Olympics, and the Pan-Am games are luxuries that the tax payers of this country cannot afford. I'm sick and tired funding someone elses's folly. The Pan-Am games? WTF are they all about anyways? Gimme a break!

The PanAm Games mean a lot to the athletes. Its important that we give our support to our athletes and to its host. As Canadians we should be happy its coming back to Canada. Put aside your disdain for Toronto and support their cause. We loved the games in Winnipeg, it was a huge success. Its a warm up for the World Championships and this is how most athletes gauge themselves for the Olympics. We still have some great venues that PAGS left behin in legacy. Toronto you need a shot in the arm make this it..We all know the Raptors, Leafs, Jays, Argos aren't gonna do it any time soon..lol.

Nobody looks happy with de Pan American for 2015, but very happy to won the Bid for World Gay Parade, it is ridiculous!!!

The city is bankrupt, as are the other levels of government. These games will cost money. Will it make money in the long run?
I would like to see a 20 year balance sheet projecting the costs pro/con. Of course this would need to come from an independant accounting firm. But figures lie and liars figure.

Another waste of tax payers money! Games are too expensive for the short period and there is not enough interest in these games. Give it up TO no one cares
