A massive player revolt against Blue Jay manager Cito Gaston threatens to boil over, with players expected to ask interim president Paul Beeston not to bring Gaston back next season.
There have been a number of indications recently that dissatisfaction was growing within the clubhouse with Gaston's old-school approach.
This controversy comes at an awkward time for the Blue Jays, who are expected to name a new president soon. Presumably, that new president will address both the general manager’s position as well as the field manager’s position as one of his first duties.
What do you think will happen to Cito Gaston? Have your say in our forum.
Cito is not to blame but the answer to the question is: he'll be fired. Should he be kept around for one more season: yes.
Jays are in free fall with just about everything going wrong that could go wrong. Cito brings stability and he has been through this before.
Wells is such an enigma. He has lost his balance at the plate and almost falls over after every swing. Surely this is something that a batting coach can straighten out.
Oh well, no place to go but up from here.

what difference does it make? he'll claim racism anyways..he is always looking for the next excuse

In respect to Cito, his record and service,he should be retained as an advisor by whoever the new GM is.Cito has lost touch with the new and younger players and the modern game.

Bringing Cito back never made any sense except JP thought it might save him his job. Cito and the coaches, he brought with him, were out of the game for many years for a reason. The game has passed them by. I don't think they know how to motivate the players of today.

Sure blame the manager. It's easier than taking responsibility for poor performance. It also doesn't help that JP screwed the team over with some big contacts to terrible players.
Bobby Cox is an old school manager and the Braves have still been a decent team.

Cito is the best thing that's happened to the Jays in years. My guess is that the disenchanted ones are the underachievers. This revolt should have taken place with the old manager, not the new one!

Let him go! Players does not believe on him anymore. OLD SCHOOL approach does not work anymore. Why does Randy Ruiz does not play regulary? The Guy has 10 homeruns with les playing time. Kevin Millar 220 hitter?? Things that make you go hmm??

I really don't know. The team was doing so good at the start of the season. Then all of a sudden it fell a part. You can't blame it on the manager. He can only do the best he can. The rest is up to the players. But if the players don't feel relaxed they should have a meeting with Cito and let them know what is on their minds. But what he said in the dressing room was not called for.You don't a team that there is not a good player on the team.

Cito will be gone, J.P. Riccardi should be gone and frankly half of those players should be gone.

I don't recall Cito walking many batters this year or giving up a lot of home runs or not covering or missing the cutoff man.
A group of millionairs are complaining, rumoured, that they don't get enough hand holding, well isn't that too bad!
How about showing some professionalism and doing what you're being paid to do instead of putting the blame on someone else. Look in the mirror complainers, you're probably sitting on the bench and that's where you belong or maybe on the bus to the minors.
Winning isn't something that comes easy and if you're not prepared put out an all out effort, then you reap what you sow.
