Which team won Heatley deal?
Mon, September 14, 2009

By DON BRENNAN, SUN MEDIA

Combined, Milan Michalek and Jonathan Cheechoo will make a little less money than Dany Heatley this season.

They also have the potential to score a few more goals.

In the eyes of Ottawa-born defenceman Dan Boyle who plays for San Jose, however, it's impossible to determine right now the winner in Saturday's blockbuster deal between the Senators and the Sharks.

Which team do you think won the Heatley trade? Have your say in our forum.

Sharks accept Heatley as is

I think he'll go to Columbus for prospects.

He'll be happy playing with Nash and the Sens can get their hands on some good talent like Brassard (who was born in Hull), Filatov or Voracek.

Who wants Heatley the "head case" at this point? Unquestionable talent but not a team player.

Where will Heatley play next season? Hopefully on the 4th line! It will be interesting to see if players like Spezza are quick to jump to his defense when he's getting pummelled by the likes of Phaneuf this season. Some work needs to be done on contracts so that this kind of crap doesn't happen again. The team went out on a limb for him and he cries about a 'diminished role'. Oddly enough, both Spezza and Alfie lost the exact same amount of ice time and you don't hear them crying like spoiled babies.

Let him stay in Ottawa. Hopefully he'll be a malignant cancer in the dressing room, relegating the Senators to the bottom of the standings. Burn Senators Burn!

I concur, Melnyk. "heatley, what ARE you doing"? keeping people vague on things is only going to hurt you in the future. Actually I think it already has...

Greg

I'm a Hab fan and I'd like to see Heatley in a Habs jersey. More than a lot of the players that Gainey has picked up recently. Any GM who doesn't jump at the chance to add a proven scorer in the lineup at a reasonable cost isn't doing his job. How is this any different from Pronger demanding to be traded from Edmonton? You sure didn't see the Anaheim fans caring too much when he carried the cup around the ice. And Philadelphia, who demonized Lindros for wanting out, sure isn't too broken up about Pronger now.

Fans will forgive all if the player produces.

Heatley should count his lucky stars and be happy just to play hockey. Technically this is a man who should be in jail, not earning 7M per year. The spoiled brat needs to grow up.

Hopefully Ottawa ,obviously nobody wants this overated bum

Enough with the Heatley saga. It is boring.

He is greedy and is good enough to get close to what he wants, it is that simple. However, until some actual movement happens and a contract is signed don't report on this non-story.

We don't need a daily update about nothing.

Team Canada should think twice about adding the disgruntled cry baby to their line-up. When a player goes all summer without saying a word about why he wanted to be traded until forced to.

If anyone thinks it was only because of his roll on the team that he asked for the trade has another think coming. Jason enlighten us!!
