Is it time for the Blue Jays to trade Roy Halladay?
Wed, July 8, 2009

By MIKE RUTSEY, SUN MEDIA

There was a time when Roy Halladay never would contemplate accepting a trade to leave the Blue Jays.

But those days are long gone.

And sooner, rather than later, so too will Halladay.

J.P. Ricciardi, the Blue Jays general manager, opened up the big can of worms surrounding the possible trading of the Jays all-star right-hander yesterday when he told a U.S.-based website: "We have to see what's out there. I'm not saying we're going to shop him. But if something makes sense, we at least have to listen. We're (leaning) more toward listening than we've ever been."

Halladay's three-year, $40-million US contract runs out in 2010, which will fuel speculation about his departure through this year's July 31 trade deadline and beyond.

What are your thoughts on Halladay's future in Toronto? Have your say in our forum.

Don't trade Doc. The team only needs a few pieces to make it a winning team. They are replacing Wells and Rios. The starting pitching has done its part to fill for the injuries. You HAVE to keep him.

fire jp and get a real person to run the jays also rogers should spend some money to get better players stop trading the good ones that are here if not doc get rid of wells rios they have sucked this year but instead they will get rid of rolin maybe marco or hill thats the way it is

J.P. NEEDS TO GO!!!

HE IS RUINING OUR TEAM!!!

Wells needs batting practice! What happened to the guy? The only reason he isn't benched, is the fact that he is being way over payed, so they have to play him.

Keep DOC in Toronto!!

If Wells and Rios had performed to their pay cheques--would Doc even be on the block?
Charlie, 2009-07-29 09:59:58

trade doc, but ensure you remove wells or rios. It matters less what we receive for doc, and more that we can remove an albatross that will be around our necks for years.

Our rebuilding will be easier with the payroll, and not another player 3 years away.

why is everyone saying keep DOC? Didn't you all hear, he will test the free agent market after 2010. He won't resign with the jays if they can't field a good team next year. That's not enough time for DOC. He's as good as gone. Get rid of him now while his value is at his highest!!!!

Trade him...remember what you got for Burnett NOTHING..these carpetbaggers have to learn the team is greater than the player so trade the bastard!

Ive been a Jays fan since the beginning. They were and always will be Canada's baeball team...even when when i moved to Montreal i didn't and glad of it. But if JP don't smarten up and keep DOC and a few of the other star players we have...i may have to become a yankee's or bosox fan and thats just plain sic...Im a Jays fan first and a fan of any team that beats those 2 teams...COMMON JP wake up its time u thought about us cause with out us the fans....u know Doc draws a crowd.. u may end up with a team that goes the way of the Expo's kinda like the dodo birds. Extinct

KEEP "THE DOC". With the season ending in 2008... Great hope was left with the Blue Jay Fans....thanks to Ceto Gaston and Roy Hallday. The Fans as am I, very upset to think of Roy leaving. We've had disappointments for too many years now..and with Doc and a solid team built around him...we have great hope. I just don't understand any other way of thinking. Why would we want to start all over mid-stream when we have the BEST right now ???

Biggest mistake . Like there say work around him. Getting rid of the best is not a good idea.Love Toronto with Doc pitching. I was very disappointed when Matt Stairs went to the Phillies.
