Hossa has been compared to a magician with the puck. In fact he's such a skilled magician he makes himself disappear everytime the heat is on.
Can't handle it when he has to be big-time. I wonder just what kind of contract he'll agree to for next season...

well, well, well... i wonder what hossa going to do now, rejoin the Pens? :-) and with all the help the Dead Things got from the refs, they still couldn't pull it off. great! The picture of Mario and Sid with the cup was great!

Jake observes "I don't know if there's another sport that has completely different standards for the regular season vs. the playoffs."
Baseball certainly does insofar as pitchers are concerned, and not just in the playoffs. A veteran pitcher will consistently have his strike zone extended while the exact same pitches from a rookie or mediocre hurler will consistently be called a ball.
Football referees and umpires tend to let the veteran defensive backs get away with just a bit more interference, and the same holds true in the NBA where players like O'Neill and Bryant can do things the lesser mortals get called for. 'Twas ever thus.

Very good 2009 playoffs, very very good stanley cup final and very very very good for Marian Hossa!

I am glad the Penguins won. Crosby deserved the Cup, even after going out on an injury.

Well the NHL aka Canada got it's wish. Crybaby got his stanley cup. This team needed all the help the league could give it, just to make the playoffs and the the playoffs were no different. Refs suck and so does Bettman. The leagues agenda was apparent from the outset. so this is what hockey has come to. Sad day for hockey.

Is it just me or is the NHL officiating a joke. Great Stanley Cup final but the teams would have been playing 3 on 3 for a good part of period 3 in each game if the games were called as they are in the regular season.
I don't know if there's another sport that has completely different standards for the regular season vs. the playoffs.

it almost appeared that the red wings did not want to win. Could it be that bonuses to be paid if they win & the desire to keep a team together would have to been overcome if they won? I believe business was more to play last evening than the better team won. The NHL won because golden child gets to hoist cup.

As I indicated earlier in this thread, it would be something if Hossa had to line up to congratulate the team he shunned. swell, it happened and, despite the brave face for the cameras, you have to be wondering what went through his mind as he shook hands with the guys he didn't think could win him that coveted Cup.
He also has to be wondering if the Wings want him back at any price after once again (as he did with Ottawa) showing he has nothing to offer offensively when the games really count.
