Baseball certainly does insofar as pitchers are concerned, and not just in the playoffs. A veteran pitcher will consistently have his strike zone extended while the exact same pitches from a rookie or mediocre hurler will consistently be called a ball.
Football referees and umpires tend to let the veteran defensive backs get away with just a bit more interference, and the same holds true in the NBA where players like O'Neill and Bryant can do things the lesser mortals get called for. 'Twas ever thus.

I don't know if there's another sport that has completely different standards for the regular season vs. the playoffs.

He also has to be wondering if the Wings want him back at any price after once again (as he did with Ottawa) showing he has nothing to offer offensively when the games really count.
