Which NHL players are most likely to be traded?
Mon, March 2, 2009

By BRUCE GARRIOCH, SUN MEDIA

Jay Bouwmeester's actions don't just speak louder than words. They speak volumes.

The big 24-year-old blueliner could have inked a long-term deal with the Panthers in the summer. Instead, Florida's first-round pick (No. 3 overall) in 2002 signed on for just one season at $4.875 million US.

The sense is Bouwmeester won't be back next season.

Slated to become an unrestricted free agent July 1, Bouwmeester will likely be one of the most sought-after players leading up to the March 4 trade deadline.

Which players do you see being traded before the deadline? Have your say in our forum.

Bouwmeester has plenty of suitors

Who cares? With a looming recession when ordinary folks will no doubt be hammered financially, who gives a sweet fiddler's **** what these grossly overpaid goofs will be paid. Let's get back to the real world. These guys are getting more irrelevant with each passing day.

I think its funny how sundin said last year he wouldn't start with a new team if it wasn't from the start of the year, so will he go back on his word?

Johnny, don't tell me you're one of those Leaf fans who thinks all you need to do is identify the most obvious overpaid stiff on the roster and then say "trade him?" Trade Blake where? Who, in their right mind, is going to take on a $4 million annual hit on their cap for the next 4 years for a guy who was so badly overrated by JFJ?

It's one thing to WISH someone could be dealt - quite another to find someone stupid enough to relieve the Leafs of the problem they themselves created!

Not even his Holiness, Brian Burke, can worm out of this deal. They will have to buy him out and that is just going to add to the cap hit they've already taken on some of their other mistakes.

As for my best choice to be traded - Jason Spezza, before his no-trade clause kicks in next summer.

Blake? What do you supopse they will get for him, a used puck bag? A trade will happen, but it will not be a big one.

I see Bouwmeester moving, probably Kovalchuk even though he's not very hot at this point, Kubina, Ohlund...theres a few.

A player who has been underachieving for the Leafs is Kaberle. I believe he would bring in a some good young prospects and/or draft picks.

Jason Blake, ever since he signed the big contract and moved to T.O. he has wilted under the lights.Big Bucks,Low Production = Big Trade.
