You're probably not alone if you haven't realized that Derick Brassard and Kris Versteeg are the top rookie scorers in the NHL early in the season.
Steven Stamkos and Kyle Turris received most of the pre-season hype, but this year's rookie class has so far produced a few surprises.
Who has been the best rookie in the league so far this season? Which players have you been disappointed with? Have your say in our forum.
It would be nice if Toronto could pry one of them away from Columbus for Kaberle.
Columbus is in a pickle. They have never made the playoffs and might make a trade like this to get into the playoffs.
Brassard would likely be untouchable though, but I can see Voracek possibly being traded.
Kaberle for Voracek and a first.

The only thing I've seen him do better than any other rookie so far is stick up for team-mates and end up getting his face punched in.
For the record, being used as a punching bag has never gotten anyone a Calder Trophy.

Luke Schenn is being unfairly overrated by Leaf fans and media, making him into something he's clearly not (he's an ideal third or fourth defenceman, but not the saviour everyone thinks he is). Doughty has put up better numbers despite playing in a tougher conference (check the stats if you don't believe me).
It seems to be the mission of the Toronto media and Leaf nation to overrate young defencemen and then villify them when they cash in with big money deals (see Kaberle, McCabe and others). Well, please don't do the same to Schenn.
