What does the future hold for Brian Burke? Thu, November 13, 2008
Brian Burke turned down a contract extension to remain general manager of the Anaheim Ducks, citing the need to spend more time with his family and the strong state of the team he helped turn into a Stanley Cup champion as reasons for leaving.
He was replaced by Bob Murray, who has spent the past three seasons in the Ducks' front office.
Suddenly, Burke has emerged as one of the top candidates for teams looking to snag a GM with a marquee name and an impressive track record.
What does the future hold for Burke? Which team do you see him joining down the road? Have your say in our forum.
Oh my yes, he will be the very bestest thing to ever happen to the Leafs since Matts Bumpkin.
We're going to hear all about it.....over and over AGAIN!

Just business as usual in Toronto. Let's face it, this guy is Pat Quinn minus the credentials and competence. And we all know how many Stanley Cups they won with Quinn. Good luck Leafs fans, when you finally stop drinking the Kool-Aid and get sick of being swindled, the Sens Army MIGHT let you in.

as I said previously, burke has a alpha personality and is also a neanderthal. Burke will make this into a side show featuring him and him alone, this is not about him but about the leafs, he relishes the spotlight which in this case is a major mistake and will be his undoing

If he is not a winner who was holding the cup a couple of years ago.

Hey Shawn
As I said in my previous comment (I had 2 comments) I am NOT a leaf fan...I guess I am not Brainless after all....Shawn you must be a habs fan.... haha

Nothing makes sense in Toronto concerning the leafs,Burke is a GM looking for a job, what's the big deal, your fans are the problem,to many opinions and a constant barrage of negativity, geez have a beer and a hotdog and go watch a hockey game, this is overkill.....

George, you are one of those Leaf fans I refer to as a Leaf fan, not a hockey fan.
Sundin was loyal right until the end. He played out his contract, was always the best player on the team, lead by example, never complained. You wanted him to pack his bags and leave town so the team could get draft picks? If he left, you'd call him a traitor wouldn't you? He honoured his contract, didn't want to be a "rental player". Leaf organization and fans need to move on. He owes the Leafs NOTHING! You need to blame Ferguson for the no trade contract, not Sundin. You have no idea what loyal means if you consider Sundin otherwise.
Typical Leaf fan - brainless.

Burke is a lot of things - a "winner" is not one of them. The best that an be said is that Toronto is trying to hire someone who will make Harold Ballard seem modest. The Leafs have been a joke of an organization for so long now that their fans are simply used to laughing.

You say Sundin was loyal! ha! He probably knew he wasn't going to play next year and should have waived hi no-trade clause , go to a contender so the Leafs can pick up a couple of players and draft choices but instead stayed in TO , still didn't do anything for them and NOW does not know where to play....WOW real Loyal...If he was loyal to the leafs he would be playing already but instead it may be the Rangers
