Who's missing from the Hockey Hall of Fame?
Mon, November 10, 2008

Edmonton Oilers president Kevin Lowe is happy that Glenn Anderson is finally in the Hockey Hall of Fame. But there are a lot of players who had great careers that have not been enshrined yet.

Who do you feel have been snubbed by the Hall's selection committee? Have your say in our forum.

Honour too long coming

I wonder aloud why the selection committee continues to ignore the contributions of Dino Cicarelli to the NHL. He burst unto the scene with a rookie goal scoring record with Minnesota North Stars after going undrafted.

Doug Mohns' all around effective play with Boston Bruins and Chicago Black Hawks as well as his longevity in the NHL are cleary another misstep by the Powers to Be.

If it's truly the HOCKEY Hall of Fame, then at some point, they're going to have to start considering some of women, especially those such as Cassie Campbell who has both done as much for the game as many already in the Hall.

Sooner or later, they're going to have to start considering the contributions of the female players to the game of hockey.

Dear Jimbo:

It is NOT the Stanley Cup Hall of Fame, it is the HOCKEY hall of fame. I do not necessarily disagree with you as you have your own opinion but, where is your arguement? Now if Wayne Gretzky or Stevie Y made that statement it would have credibility as there talents speak for themselves. Whats your talent? Making unsubstantiated opinions known? This is a great site for debating points of view but first you have to present it!

Luckily jimbo, it's not about cups. Winning cups is a team accomplishment and there is room in the HOF for individuals who have never been fortunate to be on a good enough team to win. Consider Marcel Dionne, he could just as easily been picked by Montreal over Lafleur and had 6 cups. But he wasn't and toiled away in obscurity in LA for years, scoring over 700 goals. Same as Gartner.

The HOF is to showcase the history of hockey, good and bad. If it's all about cup rings then it'll look like the Canadiens locker room. Guys like Eagleson have to be there, in addition to stealing from Bobby Orr he gave us the '72 Summit Series. And it is a crime for Henderson not to be there. Personally I think he's more deserving than Neely or Anderson from the impact he had on all Canadians.

It is not who's missing, it is who's in. Neely, Gartner come on now. No cup between them
