A Toronto group wants to leave its Legacy with the National Hockey League.

Calling it a pie-in-the-sky idea might be a safer bet.

Andrew Lopez, creator of the Toronto Legacy Group, unveiled an ambitious NHL expansion team plan today at a downtown restaurant, one that would be called the Toronto Legacy, play in a proposed 30,000-seat arena at Downsview Park and give 25% of its annual net profits to charities across Canada.

Half of the tickets in the rink, which is part of a plan that would include an Olympic swimming pool, office towers and a hotel, would be sold for no more than $50 a game.

Lopez said the group already has lined up $1 billion in financing.

Sure, why not have another team in Toronto? That way, they could spread the wealth of talent they already have around a little!

With the Leafs and the Marlies Toronto has two AHL teams already.. Centre of the universe could use something to get excited about.

Could somebody please explain to me, why a team in Hamilton is such a BAD idea and a second team in T.O. is a good one?

And while we are on the subject, last time I checked. Winterpeg is still looking for an other chance at a team, and I suspect that Quebec City might like another bite out of that apple.
