Who should play for Canada at the 2010 Olympics?
Fri, October 17, 2008

With only a few months to go before the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Steve Yzerman and his team are bringing Canada's best hockey players together for an orientation camp in Calgary.

SLAM! has told you who is a lock to make the team, who is on the bubble and who is out of the running. But who would you select to represent Canada in Vancouver?

Have your say in our forum.

Yzerman bides his time

What did Marc Savard do wrong to be excluded? At the very least, he should have been at that camp in Calgary.

Any Olympic team carrying Doan or Smyth is certain to be as pathetic as it was the last time these horribly overrated clowns loafed on board. Still gonna be a good old boys club

Crosby is a shoe-in without a doubt; while many great players will have to be left out...however I don't agree that DOAN should be part of this list; c'mon we can do better than this..this is the Olympics and ALL players are available, this isn't the World Cup in April with left over players! Lecavalier, Iginla and Staal are the type of players we need and well capable of stepping up to the plate when needed. Go Canada Go!

Crosby is a lock. idotic not to include him on any list. Getzlaf is also a lock as is Eric Stall. Vinny will have to play the wing which he can do. Morrow will make it over Doan on the fourth line if he is injury free. Brodeur and Luongo will each get a game then Babcock will decide on who starts. Cam Ward will assume the 3rd spot. my line up.

Brodeur-Luongo-Ward

D-Niedermayer, Phaneouf, Pronger, Green, Weber, Keith.

F-Heatley-Getzlaf-Nash

Gagne-Crosby-Iginla

Carter-Stall-Lecavalier

Toews-Richards-Morrow

Ralph,

Are you suggesting that Crosby be left off the team? Maybe you'd be happier with Talbot, he sure showed up in the last game.

I'm just glad you aren't making the decisions. Crosby helped get the Pens where they were in the finals, although maybe he peaked against Washington by outscoring Ovechkin in a head to head matchup. To gripe about whether Canada's best player tailed off at the end is hardly a deciding factor.

I think Lucic should be on the team, they need a checking line, not just an All-star team.
Sidney Ovechkin, 2009-08-23 09:25:26

As of now it could look like this:

Goal: Luongo, Brodeur, Fleury

Defense: Niedermayer, Phaneuf, Pronger, Weber, Green, Bouwmeester, Regehr

Forward:

Heatley-Crosby-Iginla

Nash-Getzlaf-Carter

Toews-Lecavalier-St. Louis

Gagne-Richards-Doan

E. Staal

Sid Crosby never even showed up in the finals. I hope Yzerman saw that.

My apologies gordholio. I just saw that your post was made in 2008. Apparently some dip at Rogers decided to simply resurrect an old thread rather than start a new one.
