I just watched St. Louis demolish Vancouver. Let'S see the Blues have Boyes, Carlo and Steen. All first round picks of the Leafs and they are all playing great. Now for all those guys we have who? Stempniak. Tell me again what he does. Does he carry luggage for the guys or cut up the oranges maybe. This is a perfect example of why the Leafs are 0 and 40 plus years owning the cup. They trade high def tv's and get radios in return. GO LEAFS GO

I believe the Leafs have played well enough to entertain while maintaining their hopes for a top draft pick. Hopefully they can string a long streak of defeats together to position themselves for a #1 or #2 pick this year and perhaps next year.

Any Leafs fan who was expecting playoffs because of their earlier season play was a fool. This team will be rebuilding for quite a while and expecting any success anytime soon is just plain stupid.

Even if the Leafs finished dead last it is no guarantee of Tavares OR Hedman winding up in TO. They will likely struggle into 11th or 12th spot and miss the boat anyways so it's a moot point.

Buckle down Leafs fans, you guys have a lot of sub-par ahead of you. That's not an insult, just a fact of life on a team that signed itself into cap oblivion and was gutted in the off-season.

GoLeafs, I'm afraid devoted fans of the Blue & White (mostly Blue as always) are being set up for the most ironic development in their recent pathetic history.

The hated Sens are in free-fall and it looks as though precious little will be done to turn things around at this stage. Why bother? Unlike the Leafs who struggled year after year to make it to 9th or 10th and draft somewhere in the middle of the pack, the Sens braintrust (an oxymoron to some) is content to let the current bunch struggle the rest of the way and watch as the likes of the Islanders, Tampa and Atlanta pass them in the overall standings - making them odds on favourite to grab Tavares. or Hedlund.

Then watch the screaming in Hogtown.

Well my prediction was correct the Leafs did fall early last night! Grabovski will likely get a game or two for his stupidity..although the ref didn't do a great job either,, some players should of been tossed earlier in the game, you say this stuff coming..but Grabovsky is a goal scorer not a goon...I guess he,s a little bitter from being let go from the Habs...I would to...seeing his actions last night it sort of rminded me of Avery or Roenick...both idiots!

Get a goalie Please!

To Burke's earlier point..

I don't believe the club has decided on who will fill the core journeymen roles. Could be worse, We could be Ottawa. Give Brian some time to navigate..this comment is for the Toronto Press. Lets jave a Reality check - there are literally thousands of real people living in the real world finding themselves without a job...What happens in the USA usually spreads to Canada. Be aware my countrymen! 2009 outlook is like TML only much worse.

I think the Leafs have a lot of problems but unfortunately I don't think we're the ones to judge what they are. Yes goaltending has been average at best(ok, maybe less than average in the last few games) but a goalie isn't much without a strong defensive unit which the Leafs are lacking. I was scared that Burke would make things worse and I'm afraid he's on the path to create a team of losers. Why trade a draft pick for someone in their late 30s? it's moves like that which put the Leafs in the position they're in today. Fletch wasn't the best GM but he was far better than Burke in my humble opinion. Brian is over rated and I don't know why they pursued him for so long. The only reason the Ducks won the cup was that they were a strong team before he got there. And look what he did to them since then? I don't think there's a point in mentioning his time with Vancouver...The Leafs should just bring up Pogge. He's no all star but they've been afraid to play him for far too long. He's proven himself to be an NHL level goalie and despite not shining as they're savor he isn't much worse than Cujo who should think about being a Goalie coach as he's an amazing goalie but simply lacks the reflexes he had in his prime. We also need offense... so we need defense, offense, and goaltending... ok...this'll take awhile. Still though, considering what they're working with the Leafs aren't THAT bad. I actually expected worse...Lets just keep cheering and hope for the best. Show some dignity and at least stop booing them...ridiculing a team you should be supporting isn't exactly going to help them rebuild anytime faster.

What's wrong??? NOTHING... they are a crappy team! Matt Stajan is the #1 centre... what do you expect?

its funny how people who clearly dont like the leafs take time to write extremely long and indepth comments. "laffing at the leafs" clearly has a secret love for the leafs, just like every other hockey fan on earth, they just arent ready to deal with the tough times we true leaf fans must go through.

leafs roster is great, by the end of the season we will be close to last and be welcoming tavares with open arms.

Go Leafs!
GoLeafs, 2009-01-08 22:56:18

keep the player's .get a goalie that might work .no players can be any good with no goalie.same problem with toronto everyyear.if they had a goalie they would have been in the playoff's lastyear.
