The CFL lost one of its legends when Hall of Famer Ron Lancaster died on Wednesday night.
The former star quarterback and coach was diagnosed with lung cancer in early August and had been undergoing radiation and chemotherapy to treat the disease.
He had been working as a colour analyst on Hamilton Tiger-Cats radio broadcasts this season before receiving the diagnosis.

I keep waiting for the 'next Ronnie' to come along and be just like that. I can also only hope that this time, he's the guy quarterbacking my team!

It seems Ron Lancaster always found a way to make the little talent that he had work in a big way.
Ron did not always win but the guys on his team always looked fired up and ready to go. And lets not forget his trick plays on forth and long or on the punt returns. I also liked him as a coach and a broadcaster... We will miss him. Luckily he will live for a long time through the people that he helped and spirit that shared....

just to name a few of the greats---and then there was 23 Lancaster --the anchor of the team, whom consistently led the team to victories--never gave up.He was small but boy could he manouver on the run,and pass for a completion. He was every boy's hero. He will be very much missed.

Comment from Tim,
Healthcare worked fine, he was originally diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2004 and had treatment at that point. You are not considered in remission from cancer until after 5 years have passed.
That said long time ti-cat's season ticket holder, Ronnie will be missed! Great, affable guy who did a lot to promote thhis great league !
