Have you forgiven Todd Bertuzzi?
Wed, August 27, 2008

Famous for sending one of the loudest messages in sports lore, Todd Bertuzzi delivered a much gentler one to Calgary Flames fans yesterday.

"Obviously I'm well aware I wasn't the most popular pickup in Calgary Flames history but at the same time, I think you have to give it a little bit of time and give me a chance," said the bruising winger at his introductory press availability alongside four other new Flames.

"Given the chance, I think I can prove myself and help this team out."

Have you forgiven Todd Bertuzzi for his on-ice attack of Steve Moore in 2004? Have your say in our forum.

I forgave Bertuzzi immediately. People need to review the hit Moore went out of his way to lay on Naslund. We could all just as easily be talking about forgiving Moore right now.

Get off the media-fueled bandwagon and watch the hit that started the whole thing a few games earlier. It's on youtube, I'm sure.

steve moore wasnt bertuzzi's 1st time of violent behaviour, but one of a long string of such actions. he should have been banned from hockey for life. if you're going to let him continue to play, at least send most of his paycheque to steve moore and his family!

Flint, Moore was not the wussy, TODD WAS. Moore hit that wuss Naslund the same way that the much lauded Scott Stevens hit everybody. Todd hit Moore from behind, the ultimate cowardly act. Moore had already fought another Canuck in that game and won.

As for forgiving Bertuzzi, my beliefs say yes, but we need to ask Todd what he wants to be forgiven for. All these years later he still refuses to admit he's done anything wrong since he's recently decided to blame someone else for his actionns. As well, forgive doesn't mean forget, and he's shown he's arrogant enough to expect to be welcomed with open arms before proving he can act like a human who actually respects the game of hockey. Up until this point, he's only shown his self-centredness and his lack of respect for anyone he doesn't consider in his "class". He deserves only what he gives, and that's not much. There are other tough and talented guys out there, the NHL doesn't need him. Just waiting to see the effect he has on Dion Phaneuf, who's already showed the inability to control himself in several situation.

The man is a thug and should have been banned from professional hockey for life. The Calgary Flames will get no support from me with that lowlife on the team.

Anyone who ever played an organized game of hockey knows that Todd Bertuzzi did what he was told to do by Mark Crawford his coach. I have never forgiven Mark Crawford for his coaching move at the Olympics in Japan which costs dearly. How do you leave Wayne the all time scoring machine on the bench in a final shoot out. Crawford should be never be forgiven for his almost criminal coaching blunders!

I don't condone that sort of action but he went out and did what was accepted in the NHL for years until someone got hurt. He should never have been suspended and i wish him all the best.

I won't be happy until I see Bertuzzi finished from hockey and destitute from lawsuits.

You can't truly move on until forgiveness has taken place.

That said, what do the rest of us have to forgive? This is a matter for Bertuzzi and Moore to work out for themselves.

Why can't the media just leave at that? Is the news that slow today?

Move on people, its been taken care of off the ice. Media let it go your the worst vilan in this case. I love sports for sports not this!!!

Who among us, have never had a momment in time that we would love to take back, i'm sure every-one has,.... and for those of you that will not support the flames because of it , Great !All the more chance of me getting to buy a ticket or two to the Flames Games ... How about if Todd were your brother or son .....how many years latter is this my gawd, let him be already Game On !
