Have you forgiven Todd Bertuzzi?
Wed, August 27, 2008

Famous for sending one of the loudest messages in sports lore, Todd Bertuzzi delivered a much gentler one to Calgary Flames fans yesterday.

"Obviously I'm well aware I wasn't the most popular pickup in Calgary Flames history but at the same time, I think you have to give it a little bit of time and give me a chance," said the bruising winger at his introductory press availability alongside four other new Flames.

"Given the chance, I think I can prove myself and help this team out."

Have you forgiven Todd Bertuzzi for his on-ice attack of Steve Moore in 2004? Have your say in our forum.

Good grief folks...let it go already.

It's not our place to forgive or not to forgive. Forgiveness is between Moore & Bertuzzi. Next time one of you mess up - will you be looking to the masses for forgiveness? I for one wish them both well and welcome Todd to the Flames. I wish him all the best and am looking forward to a great hockey season.

NO. As a matter of fact Bertuzzi should have been banned from Hockey, he is still living his dream where Moore can only fanticise of what might have been.
Greg Clark, 2008-10-08 11:14:17

No.

No I don't forgive Bertuzzi, I think that he is a disgrace to the Hockey world and a total dissapointment to Canadians. No one deserves to be injured the way that Steve Moore was, Todd's an idiot.

Nope

Well Tricky, what you believe is not supported by "Facts", as you say! The so-called Naslund incident is surpassed only by your vivid imagination.

That said, and as I posted previously, this is not over for either of the principles here. Not that we'd want to, but consider for a moment walking in Bertuzzi's shoes when future financial ruin is certain. And for a lifetime, consider Moore's spirit and compare with your own sensitivity on the matter.

Facts:

Moore tried to cheap shot Naslund and the league did nothing...don't confuse open ice hits with wildly thrown elbows like Moore threw.

Moore took the coward's route when faced with retribution for his actions, had he been a man and stood up to Bertuzzi the outcome would have been different.

Bertuzzi lost it, the outcome was far more severe than anyone could have anticipated and he has paid the price.

Move on!!! Pick on the Leafs...they deserve it!!

Matt...comparing Bertuzzi's actions to the Beatles breaking up is about like comparing a serial killer to someone that swats a fly. Although a lot of people may have been heartbroken the Beatles broke up, I don't think their actions could have paralyzed or killed someone. People make mistakes. Bertuzzi acted like a goon, and the action was premeditated. I don't forgive him and never will. He's shown he has it in him and who knows if he'll do something like that again. And I don't buy any "heat of the moment" or "you don't know what it's like until you've been there" crap. That's the same type of excuse people use when they shoot someone after cutting that person off and having that person honk at them for doing it.

Now don't get me wrong, what Todd did was wrong, and I'm not saying Moore deserved a broken neck but Moore is also a goon and yes he fought another canuck and won but when Tood wanted to scrap, wimpy Steve didn't want any part of it because he knew he couldn't win so he ran like all bullies do when confronted by a bigger bully and Todd went after him. Now saying that I think they should have gave a 5 or 10 game misconduct to Moore because of his hit on Naslund and by the time it was over all would have been forgotten. So I blame the NHL in a round about way because if they did their jobs and handed out appropriate suspensions they would send a clear message that they are trying to clean up the NHL. Until they stop drafting goons this will be part of pro hockey for a long long time, so get over it and let have a good season

Hey Hockeyfan

Just becasue 1 guy does something wrong does not constitute Bert doing some thingwrong. That is the problem with todays society. As well the NHL deemed the hit on Naslund clean and did not punish Moore. No please use your head before you speak as you are a clear example of why kids are the way they are no a days and get away will all kinds of crap. Having said that Bert did his time and lets all move on and let the authorities decide who and who does not get punished and live with it. Vengence is not ours to dish out vigilante justice is over we are not cave men.
