Will you cheer or jeer Sundin?
Wed, January 7, 2009

TERRY JONES, SUN MEDIA

The world's most expensive hockey rental player, the subject of one of the sorriest "national" sports soap operas of all time, is going to be a major event here tonight, a feature photo-op of this entire NHL season.

Mats Sundin, after practice in Vancouver, gave himself the green light, boarded the flight and arrived here yesterday with the Canucks preparing to play in tonight's tilt against the Edmonton Oilers.

Will you cheer or jeer Sundin's return to the NHL? Have your say in our forum.

Sundin could make Canucks debut against Oilers

Good for Matts to get out of the Toronto hell hole on his terms. A class act all the way, the top leaf scorer ever, who was under appreciated by all the jerks in this city and still is. The media has dragged this out way too long and made him the villan.

All he ever did was lead this team in scoring every year on his own with virtually no support. Other than a short stint when they occasionly played Mogilny on his line, he never had a top scoring winger to play with and still excelled every year. Like other great captains the leafs screwed, Keon and Sittler come to mind, I am glad that he got out on his terms. He owes the leafs nothing!

Good for you Matts! Vancouver is going to be a better team because of you. My only wish would have been to see him there a few years ago instead of wasting his career in a place he is obviously still not appreciated.

All the best of luck to you Matts, a great captain and despite what the media says, a class act all the way.

All talk no action to date, class not, classless yes

Get rid of the fat overpaid greedy S.O.B. Ship him back to Sweden with our Cdn. $$$$$s

It's Over! Thank God!

Good Luck to you Mats. As for the right move - in terms of $$$ how can it not be?

Moved from the eastern conference maple leafs to the western conference maple leafs. Now toronto can continue their 4 decade rebuild and vancouver can plan the parade route.

If Toronto fans want to boo their all-time leading scorer, what does that say about the organization? Personally, the way the fans treat players, even loyal stars like Sundin, would make other stars think twice about playing here. Five years ago star players wanted to play in TO, but no more.

As for Vancouver, good for them for having the cap space and trying to make their team better. But a Canuck team with Sundin and without Luongo is worse than when it started. They need Luongo to have any remote chance of competing in the playoffs.

Hahaha...too bad Leaf Nation.

The Swedish Meatball has decided to go west for the $$$.

I'm glad this sorry soap opera is over.

Mats Sundin is only a plant to entice the Sedin Sisters to Toronto when they become UFA. My proof?

Mats only signed 1 year and prorated at that...he's leaving Vancouver in June. The Sedin Sisters want to be in the pansy league, known as the Eastern Conference. Mats is their tour guide to getting there.

Stay tuned the third greatest sports conspiracy is not yet over. The first? Michael Phelps is genetically engineered. Second? Brian Burke going to TO.

With Sundin gone, Toronto can finally begin to build their team.

Mats was a distraction. He was signed with the promise that he would be the team superstar.

The problem with that is that no team can be built around any single player.

So be gone Sundin. Have a nice time in Vancouver.

CK,

The media made this into a circus - Sundin didn't.

Best wishes to him in Vancouver!
