Will you cheer or jeer Sundin?
Wed, January 7, 2009

TERRY JONES, SUN MEDIA

The world's most expensive hockey rental player, the subject of one of the sorriest "national" sports soap operas of all time, is going to be a major event here tonight, a feature photo-op of this entire NHL season.

Mats Sundin, after practice in Vancouver, gave himself the green light, boarded the flight and arrived here yesterday with the Canucks preparing to play in tonight's tilt against the Edmonton Oilers.

Will you cheer or jeer Sundin's return to the NHL? Have your say in our forum.

Sundin could make Canucks debut against Oilers

I live and die by my beloved Sens, but, (as mentioned on other strings) I'm also a Sundin fan. You gotta give props: his was the stoic, re-assuring face of the Empire for over ten years, most of them lean ones. I think it's unfortunate that he's tarnishing his NHL legacy: not allowing the trade last season and, as mentioned below, the dog-and-pony show now playing. I believe Mats still has a good year left in the tank. I'd love to see him in Montreal. He may provide that little extra they need to bring Stanley home. Cheers, deap in Kingston.

I think Mats will be back with the Leafs and that he is just giving them a little pay back for the embarrassment they caused him last year. All of that trade crap from last season should have been between him and the team not the whole NHL,press and fans. The Leafs management really screwed up and are facing the consequences now.

Who cares were Sundin plays!! This is now officially a 'Dog and Pony' show.

I agree with "gordholio". But I'm a HABS fan, and if Sundin wants a proper shot at the Cup this coming year, he should sign with the Canadiens.

It's the "slow" season as far as hockey is concerned gordholio, with writers desperate for any tidbit of information with which to fill out a column. Trade rumours are the mainstay in the summer months, and if there's no concrete rumour running around, why - just create one.

Who Cares!!!

Only a Maple Leaf Player who has an ego bigger than the grand canyon would want the spotlight on himself the whole summer, who cares where he plays, his best years are behind him, he will never take the travel out west so he won't go to Vancouver. Toronto is the Only place big enough for his ego he'll mesh right in

I'm a Sundin fan, but this story is getting ridiculous.

Just report something when he makes a decision instead of everytime his agent opens his mouth please.
