Will you cheer or jeer Sundin?
Wed, January 7, 2009

TERRY JONES, SUN MEDIA

The world's most expensive hockey rental player, the subject of one of the sorriest "national" sports soap operas of all time, is going to be a major event here tonight, a feature photo-op of this entire NHL season.

Mats Sundin, after practice in Vancouver, gave himself the green light, boarded the flight and arrived here yesterday with the Canucks preparing to play in tonight's tilt against the Edmonton Oilers.

Will you cheer or jeer Sundin's return to the NHL? Have your say in our forum.

Sundin could make Canucks debut against Oilers

He will either retire or play for the leafs. If he goes somewhere else his name is MUD.

He has said it before he is a leaf. He wants to retire a leaf. True fans of the game know that. The rest will believe what ever the media throws at them. GARBAGE.

If Matts wants a decent shot at winning the Holy Grail, Vancouver ain't it!! He could put a young, talented, well-run team like the Habs in contention in 1 year. He would be respected and loved by the fans and he wouldn't have to put up with the nasty travel schedule of the Canucks.

TO SUNDINS AGENT: Keep your mouth shut until you got something worthwhile to say...

TO SUNDIN: Who cares where you play, your not going to be worth whatever you get...

Offering Sundin $10 million a year is ridiculous, he is past his prime and he will not have another season over 80 points, mark my words...He only had 4 seasons with a little over 80 points in his 12 years in TO, he was grossly overpaid for that kind of performances...He is NOT a superstar, he is just a little above average at times and only when he wants to...

I wish he would stay over in Sweden and never come back to North America!!!

Good Riddance!!!

My god the Leafs better hope this drawn out story never dies because then the attention will turn to how awful this season is going to be for them. I predict an exciting rivalry with Atlanta and Florida because all other teams in the east will blow them out of the building.
Sens Fan Matt, 2008-08-01 15:57:15

it's funny how this whole thing is getting blown out of proportion. a lot of people accusing Mats to make a circus of this. i think it's the media who's creating the circus. Mats said he will make a decision in due time. he hasn't said anything since, so maybe he should be left alone and make a report WHEN he makes his decision.

At this point in time, and since he's not been training over the summer, I think he should "hang em up" and be one of the few captains to get out of Toronto with some dignity while at or near the top of his game. Having said that I hate to see him go.

He should go for the bucks while u can, some of the money goes to his agent.Still, don't retire, break another record, highest paid.1 more year playing a game. Why the hell not.

He belongs in Montreal where his talent will actually make a difference. I'm a Sens fan and would love to see him in Ottawa but lets be honest, he won't play for a bitter rival and discredit the Leafs. Today's Habs are not the bitter rivals of yester-year. He's given more than his fair share of sweat for the Leafs, it's time to enjoy the last years of his career (much like Darryl Sittler and Lanny McDonald).
HOCKEYMAN, 2008-08-01 13:45:42

Sundin should go and play where the SUN don`t shine. If he does play in North America and the team he plays for doesn`t win Lord Stanly he should have to give back his salary and be run out of town. Enough is enough. Gordie

I think Mats should just make a decision and get this circus act over with. If Mats is as devoted to the leafs as people say he is,then sign with the leafs. If he wants more money, sign with Vancouver. If wants to go elsewhere, will then go. Enough already, He has had months to think about it, more than enough time to make a decision.
