Will you cheer or jeer Sundin?
Wed, January 7, 2009

TERRY JONES, SUN MEDIA

The world's most expensive hockey rental player, the subject of one of the sorriest "national" sports soap operas of all time, is going to be a major event here tonight, a feature photo-op of this entire NHL season.

Mats Sundin, after practice in Vancouver, gave himself the green light, boarded the flight and arrived here yesterday with the Canucks preparing to play in tonight's tilt against the Edmonton Oilers.

Will you cheer or jeer Sundin's return to the NHL? Have your say in our forum.

Sundin could make Canucks debut against Oilers

Judging from Koshan's article today in in the ongoing Saga Of Mats, it looks like you may have hit the nail on head Vince in Ottawa.

And the beat goes on .....

Yes I do believe some teams have seen the light as to not play the Sundin game... not sure that Montreal will play this game too long...and frankly Gainey is too sharp to do this and to have this done to him... drop the puck.. drop Sundin. let the season begin... I always said he was highly over rated player.. hes a good player, but not hte greatness you need to win the cup around him... Toronto surely doesn't need him anyway.. cause they will suck tweice as much this year anyway... it,s not like they have Sundin as a leverage piece to trade with... Ferguson made sure of that when he signed all those useless players to high contracts with a no trade claude.

Go Habs Go!

The media should turn off the camera and forget him....then he will decide and at this point who really cares??

Sundin-Sundin-Sundin

Look if he was that goog or Great as al the nhl thinks then to should have won a cup a few times ,but no, look lets get on and leave Sundin alone he is treating all the teams like they owe him if anything the nhl and hockey gave him good yeasr and now if his is not sure and all this summer to deside then bye bye Sundin and hello 2008-2009 season please lets move on

Not sure what all the fuss is. let him go and move on. Sundin will NOT make the difference between a cup or not. He might be a very good addition but not the franchise player like Sakic, Gretzky, etc... who will make the difference to win the cup or not. His indecision is a grave sign of disrespect to not only the league but to the other players as well. As many teams are on the sideline (and Sundin is not that stupid to not know that) to decide what to do with other players then some of his peers have to bare the brunt of his "sitting on the fence"... Can somebody tell him the fence is just that "one fence" and not a steeple race!

Mats Sundin is pulling off a Peter Forsberg caper.

He'll take the first half of the season off approximately until Christmas and the New Year. He will then go to the highest bidder that wants him to catapult their team into the playoffs.

I'm not even sure why the Leafs are still wanting him back? Not like he is the missing piece of the puzzle. Keep the money, Leafs are going to blow with or without him anyway. They are still a number of players short of contending. Doesn't make sense.

I don't care what anyone does in life, however holding management by the short and curlys is no way to handle it. Mats needs to s*** or get off the pot so that the team can start to build for the upcoming season. I also believe that nobody it worth 7 million dollars in any sport...this is why our tickets cost so much is to pay these whiners thier salaries.

Putting myself in Sundin's position, knowing that several teams are waiting and thus creating a log-jam of possible transactions I think I would have more respect for my peers. I would have made my decision by the end of July at the latest. This is vintage Mats. This time he is inconveniencing, not only the Leafs (who desperately want to rebuild), but at least six other teams. Wake up Sundin!!!

Ward, 2008-08-28 09:01:48

First...have some RESPECT for others...and for the rest ....QUIT... he's not worth all this attention...
