The world's most expensive hockey rental player, the subject of one of the sorriest "national" sports soap operas of all time, is going to be a major event here tonight, a feature photo-op of this entire NHL season.
Mats Sundin, after practice in Vancouver, gave himself the green light, boarded the flight and arrived here yesterday with the Canucks preparing to play in tonight's tilt against the Edmonton Oilers.
Will you cheer or jeer Sundin's return to the NHL? Have your say in our forum.
CHEER,that is what real fans do. He was the teams heart and soul for so many years, he deserves to be welcomed not abhored. I for one will be cheering from home.

What a sad bunch you all are. Mats wasted away for 14 years with a collection of crappy players. He remained loyal. You guys seem to forget how MLSE jerked him around. You have to cheer for the guy - he was and is a leaf for life. Ohhh... But I forgot, he's a Swede and isn't worth your applause.

While I enjoy NHL hockey and am a Maple Leafs fan, I don't really take the game all that seriously as to boo a player.
Sundin put in his time here - let's just move on to something better now.

Mats. Thanks for your leadership.

Zero shots in two games for the 20 million dollar man?
I'd be booing that slug.

I won't cheer him since I root for my beloved but sadly mediocre Maple leafs. I definately will not BOO him however. Its a low-class type of fan that will do that! He has in fact granted us hockey fans a favor by coming back for more time in the NHL and a Canadian team too. You should be ashamed of yourself.

jeer! "i love this team. i always want to be a leaf. i'll never be a hired gun, so i won't waive my no-trade clause." so much changes in just a few months. if he really loved the leafs, he'd have let himself be traded so that they'd at least get something in return... especially since he ended up deciding to be a hired gun anyway.
he went back on his word.
jeer him.

Why? He is a hell of a player, he did great things for the Leafs while he was here and is one of the best Leafs ever. But he is no longer a Leaf. If I cheer for him, I am cheering for the Canucks, and why would I do that? Maybe if the Canucks make it to the finals against an American-based team, then I will cheer for Sundin.

If we all ignore it, maybe it will finally go away. I am really sick and tired of this soap opera.
