Will you cheer or jeer Sundin?
Wed, January 7, 2009

TERRY JONES, SUN MEDIA

The world's most expensive hockey rental player, the subject of one of the sorriest "national" sports soap operas of all time, is going to be a major event here tonight, a feature photo-op of this entire NHL season.

Mats Sundin, after practice in Vancouver, gave himself the green light, boarded the flight and arrived here yesterday with the Canucks preparing to play in tonight's tilt against the Edmonton Oilers.

Will you cheer or jeer Sundin's return to the NHL? Have your say in our forum.

Sundin could make Canucks debut against Oilers

He should retire and keep playing poker. He has accomplished nothing for his team except led them to 3 futile years. His holding out is only evidence he is in it for the money. As a habs fan I hope they pass on him as I think he will simply be a floater and collect his cheque. You'd have to be desperate to pay him what he is asking.

Oh pleasr, enough already. To much press on this subject! This guy suffers from way to much ego! He'll do anything for attention, he isn't that great, not even that good. Time for him to pack up the skates and play for the home country!

We have had our fill of his hi jinx!

Jake:

If you have seen him play numerous times it can only mean you have the misfortune of having your head stuck up the "Leafs Nation"

The rest of us only get to see him a few times when the Leafs show up on their annual losing road trip and he is at best a "second line" centre.

Time to recognize that your Leafs are better off without him and one decade might actually make the playoffs.

Duane, you're obviously one of the great hockey minds of our time. You see things that experienced GM's around the league can't see (i.e. Burke, Gainey, Murray, don't know who it is but Vancouver's GM, etc.). I'm guessing you've never seen Mats play live - I have numerous times and he's one of the great hockey talents.

For all the struggling teams out there - have a look at Duane as a GM candidate for your team. He's amazing!!!

Retire already you frigging headline grabber. All we heard during the off season was about "where Mats" playing. Sick of it! no one cares Mats, fade away!!

Come on; at best he is a second line centre (which is why he was a star in Toronto). Hopefully he stays with the Leafs

Please, oh please, not Ottawa.

We need a puck-moving defenseman, not an old, geriatric forward who we would have to get rid of 2 younger forwards to get the cap room to sign him.

ya know what? For teams to accept "he'll come back when he's good and ready" is unacceptable. Sundin is a veteran, but clearly not what he used to be. He's not worth the wait and Matts should have started the season just like everyone else on a team...he's not better than anyone else.
gerry, 2008-11-04 10:29:10

Sundin can go play Midget girls as far as I'm concern. He has now made himself a nobody. Let him stay that way. GO PLAY IN EUROPE Mats, nobody cares anymore.

Hey SOMEBODY.. don't kid yourself MLSE has NO VISION and only accept mediocre performance.. forget about what they are striving for!
