Will you cheer or jeer Sundin?
Wed, January 7, 2009

TERRY JONES, SUN MEDIA

The world's most expensive hockey rental player, the subject of one of the sorriest "national" sports soap operas of all time, is going to be a major event here tonight, a feature photo-op of this entire NHL season.

Mats Sundin, after practice in Vancouver, gave himself the green light, boarded the flight and arrived here yesterday with the Canucks preparing to play in tonight's tilt against the Edmonton Oilers.

Will you cheer or jeer Sundin's return to the NHL? Have your say in our forum.

Sundin could make Canucks debut against Oilers

The fact that this is the 'big' issue it appears to be based upon the amount of coverage in the media this week tells you all you need to know about the state of the Leafs Hockey Club right now. Almost the worst team in the entire league.

If i was there i would probably want to throw things at him, dump a beer on his head or something.

How, as Laff fans, can you cheer for someone that set you rebuilding phase back 2 to 3 years more than it was already going to take? If he waved his trade clause, they could have got a couple good young guys and a couple draft picks. And also once he waved it, the other clowns that you guys should be booing would have left as well, giving them a few more top draft picks.

If he loved the Laffs so much, he could have signed back with them after the year was over.

BOOO i say. Boo on the lieing, greedy, selfish Mats Sudin!!!!!

Leaf fan,

I don't go to a lot of games but I don't remember any booing of Koivu. Certainly not due to or after his cancer, he was cheered after that. All I remember was some of the usual contrived controversy by the usual idiot in the French media about Koivu not learning French. He erroneously thought it was Koivu's job as captain to be bilingual. Nobody bought it, everyone supported Koivu, he spoke a couple of words in French and the reporter looked like an idiot and shut up.

How does this equate to booing a guy with cancer? Or compare with Leaf fans not respecting the guy who carried their team for a dozen years?

He's always been a class guy and should be treated with class. I'll be cheering!

If I saw Matts in the ACC on Saturday night, I would cheer him on, I pity those who would jeer him though, they have short term memories of his stay in Hogtown. It was him, Cujo, Tucker and Pat Quinn who put the pride back in the Leafs team starting 9 years ago when they had some really good playoff runs.(and putting the Sens in their place) I hope Mats has a good year with the Canucks.

As the Leaf fans have not much to cheer about for the last 40 years they may as well yell to their hearts content for the guy that got all the ink and never took them any place. If that is all you have to cheer about good luck.

I am amazed Ron and Burke have lasted as long as they have. Now they have got rid of most of the no trade clause players what next. I wish they would trade Poggy as he does not need TO.

Hey Habs Fan,

You want to talk about class? Let's talk about how you booed Saku Koivu (after his bout with cancer) in favor of a home grown player.

That reeks of class!
Leafs Fan, 2009-02-18 18:02:41

Anyone who boos is not a hockey fan, and is more accurately just someone swept up the mob mentality who can reason for himself.

The Leafs have absolutely zilch to show for the last 40 years in terms of success. The only faint thing Leaf fans have to cling to is the heritage and the history of the organization, that some can be proud of. If they are willing to ride their most loyal and hard working player who lived and died for the team for most of his career, then obviously the Leaf heritage means zero to these people. This leaves them with nothing and proves they are just a bunch of losers.

A lot of Leaf fans have a lot to learn about class and respect for tradition.

Sun..who?
Razor, 2009-02-18 16:51:16

Leafs fans - classless to the bitter end. Enjoy choking on your bile.
