Will you cheer or jeer Sundin?
Wed, January 7, 2009

TERRY JONES, SUN MEDIA

The world's most expensive hockey rental player, the subject of one of the sorriest "national" sports soap operas of all time, is going to be a major event here tonight, a feature photo-op of this entire NHL season.

Mats Sundin, after practice in Vancouver, gave himself the green light, boarded the flight and arrived here yesterday with the Canucks preparing to play in tonight's tilt against the Edmonton Oilers.

Will you cheer or jeer Sundin's return to the NHL? Have your say in our forum.

Sundin could make Canucks debut against Oilers

on a personal stand point yes...for the team it is very selfish and stupid...he is now coming in as a saviour if he dosen't produce here comes the downslide and maybe out of the playoffs...I also do not believe he will attract anymore fans then they have

So in the spring he said no I am going to die a leaf don't trade me and get something that you can use to rebuild the team. How Selfish of him.. Please he knew he was going to play somewhere else.. Boo him when he comes back.

10 million for one year?

Of course Mats did the right thing. Check out the safes at Costco Mat...banks and mutual funds will erode your cash in a hurry...or better still Swiss banks can even protect your investment against things like income taxes..don't have to worry about the gold in your Stanley Cups ring..cuz baby u ain't getting one ever....

who cares? if he was such a great leaf he would have let the leafs trade him so we could get some players that would 'play'all year!not run out of gas when it counted

finally a decision. an when all is said and done he chose vancouver...hurray

perhaps now yous will all stop feeding the frenzy of sundin. cause he will fade away out here and not get any limelite and he will find out what real tough hockey is all about and don;t be surprised if this rent a player does not handle the grind and packs it in due to an upper body injury if you consider his head part of the body and a brain freeze an injury

Duh yeh! 10 million a year for a 37 year old. Matts is still a premiere player, and he will help Vancouver, but they won't win the cup.

Who cares?? I can't figure out why the press has given so much coverage to this nonsense.

Sundin put in his time with Quebec and Toronto, and like so many other Unrestricted Free Agents before him - he can chose which team he wants to play for! To call this guy names such as a traitor? It is so true, you guys are probably the same jokers who were cursing Cujo as he left for Detroit then welcoming him back this year. This city get's so out of whack when someone in sports choses somewhere other than Toronto!

After reading some of the comments on this board, I've come to the conclusion that most of the posters have been brainwashed by Don Cherry. Why does it seem to matter that Sundin is Swedish? And calling him a mediocre player is ridiculous...he's been a great player for many years. I think the Leafs fans are the real traitors...see how fast they all forgave Cujo, who left for money and a Cup and had no problems saying so... Pitiful. You claim you're better...I bet each and every one of you would leave your jobs to jump to a higher paying job in a heartbeat, but you'll stab this man in the back for doing the same.
