Will you cheer or jeer Sundin?
Wed, January 7, 2009

TERRY JONES, SUN MEDIA

The world's most expensive hockey rental player, the subject of one of the sorriest "national" sports soap operas of all time, is going to be a major event here tonight, a feature photo-op of this entire NHL season.

Mats Sundin, after practice in Vancouver, gave himself the green light, boarded the flight and arrived here yesterday with the Canucks preparing to play in tonight's tilt against the Edmonton Oilers.

Will you cheer or jeer Sundin's return to the NHL? Have your say in our forum.

Sundin could make Canucks debut against Oilers

I'm just glad all the hype is over with. The Toronto media will have nothing left to talk about this year... oh wait a minute... maybe they can talk about thier teams' play rather than just about a guy who decided what was best for him?

To Jonnay...

No offence taken, real fans don't behave that way anyway.

Buying or receiving a ticket and going to a game does not give one exclusion from behaving like bonehead.

Real fans act with class.

I'm glad the Leafs fans at the game showed class to Sundin just as the organization did.

Agree or disagree with how he left, Sundin still gave Leaf fans a lot to cheer about for a long time.

Mats has said, as captain of the the Leafs last season, it would have been innapropriate for him to agree to waive his trade cause and give up on their playoff run.

Clearly, if Fletched were to have succeeded, he should have taken the captaincy away from Sundin first, clearing Mats of his moral obligation.

Bummmmm he abandonned the worst team booooooo
miv, 2009-02-21 18:17:37

Why wouldn't the people of toronto cheer for Mats, during his tenure here he was the primary reason that leafs made anywhere near the playoffs. He carried this team for the last 8 seasons he was. Get over the fact that the leafs lost draft picks for him last year. It was his decision to make and he exercised his option. So come on toronto, come tonight, stand up and cheer Mats!

CHEER YER BUTTS OFF for him,cuz he screwed the LAFFS over pretty good the last 14 yrs "and lovin it"

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

To the over-paid under achieving BUM! What the hell is there to cheer for? In his tenure with the Leafs he never even played in a Cup Final, never won a scoring title or even a major NHL award! He is the most over-rated player in Maple Leaf history!
FRT, 2009-02-21 13:13:02

PLEASE cheer for the guy.He was good for Toronto. Living in Vancouver the last 14 yrs it's nauseating to see these ban wangon fans. Continue to show class Toronto! We still talk proud of you while Vancouve disses hockey and everything else about the city. They're soooo closed minded. They all hated him now they love him. If he makes a mistake look out. Beautiful city here but people are a little backwards, especially when it comes to sports.

Being in a battle for the basement, Leaf fans have once again, little to cheer about so ya cheer Mats he was all ya had.
