There are few Canadian public figures as polarizing as Don Cherry.
You either love him or you hate him.
And what’s not to love?
Grapes is pure entertainment.
I don't necessarily agree with everything he says, but hey, he's the one with the air time and not me.
He acknowledges our troops overseas - when most people
choose to forget: so I can forgive him at the times he's gone awol on certain issues.
He for a hard tough game, but for keeping it clean with the elbows, sticks, and the hitting from behind.
As for the contreversy, at least he airs his laundry on national TV and he's taken his lumps when wrong.
To his detractors, I say this: You don't have to agree with him, but for the good things he does, Don Cherry should have respect.

Forget PM, Cherry For President!! He's gotta be better than the two they've trotted out this time around in the States.

It gets boring reading comments about him being redneck. May be they should replace him with a middle eastern person or some separtest from quebec. If they get rid of don then i won't have any reason to watch c.b.c you have a fan here don keep it up

Personnaly, i'd much rather watch old'Don on CBC,and at least get a few laughs, then put up with imbeciles such as McGuire and Milbury on TSN,or even worse,Watters and Kypreos on Sporstnet.
If CBC's looking at getting rid of so called "icons" then i would suggest targetting the likes of Bob Cole for a start...The man was a great broadcaster at one time, but Gordie Howe was also a great player in his days...time to move on already!!!.
One of the few things i dislike about Cherry, is proclaiming his love for the lowly leafs. But hey!!....if it means pretending to cheer for the leafs in order to keep your job,so be it!...:)
