Now that Hossa has signed with the Wings I hope Mats doesn't go there too... can you imagine?

wow just wow...

ive been a huge sundin fan for years and defended him in the face of the knuckle dragging unibrows that make up most of the leaf nation.

im disappointed in him, dont begrudge him his decision just very disappointed as a leaf fan and hockey fan.

your point is interesting mats and lost on me. piss off!
David, 2008-07-02 21:21:56

forget sundin,it is All about him and he will only play when someone begs him to. I say go away far away and pout by yourself

worst deal has to be the FINGER...WHO IN HELL IS HE..HAS MINDLESS GEEZER FLETCHER LOST IT,,,TOO MUCH HAIR DYE??wth the possibilities out there TORONTO gets the finger 14 million...bring bACK THE DOMI...,AS FOR SUNDIN LET IT GO,,,THE ONLY THING SWEDES COULD MAKE A DECISION ON WAS NOT GOING INTO CORNERS!!!

Fletcher is making some good moves! Signing Finger and Hagman are good signings - they are only 28 years old and are just coming into their prime.

As for Finger, yes he did get too much from Toronto per year, but a lot of GMs overspent as well.

Curtis Joseph is an excellent signing for the backup netminder job as well.

He is cheap and can backup Toskala for a year, until Pogge is ready to backup the next year.

For those saying just play the young nobodies, come on - you have to play with some ethics in the NHL, not intentionally try to finish last.

Regardless, Toronto will get a good pick next summer. There's more out there than just Tavares and Hedman.

Whatever Matt bought to TO it is time for him to move on so they can too. There is no point in TO re-signing him when they could add at least two extra players for the same money. Good luck Matt.

Did we not learn ANYTHING from JFJ? I'm sure this Finger kid is ok, but come on 4 years? Jeez!! Same for Hagman. We want to get rid of the contracts that he gave out; get as much cap space as we can. Finish last and get Tavares. Then we go from there have plenty of cap room THEN bring in some quality younger players to compliment them. You get rid of Clemenson who you let play the majority of the playoffs while Pogge sits on the bench and bring in Cujo? Sure I like Cujo, but scratching my head on that one too? What's next we going to go after Avery now for 3-4 mill a year for 4 years? Come on! stop it bring up as many Marlies as you can, stock the minors with picks and grunt players and lets get it revamped!! AS for Sundin glad you’re gone, and you better be!! Any "legacy" you may have made for yourself is now tainted by what you have pulled the last 6 months. And as I said before, TORONTO fans, franchise, city owes you nothing you were paid handsomely for something you love and a city you SAY you loved to be in. WE ARE EVEN move on. Glad Tucker is gone obviously there are NO pro scouts in Col? Raycroft and Tucker? Now Van takes Wellwood, and offering 10 mill for Sundin hate to be Canucks fan, isn’t that what you had with Morrison and Naslund? Free agent time is humorous, teams take on all the other teams’ garbage and think they can reinvent them, sorry doesn't work that way. Just goes to show you there are way too many teams in the league and not enough are flourishing. Bettman has to go, and so does trying to make the Americans like hockey, guess what they don't maybe in about 12 cities, with this cap in place now, we can put a team in Quebec, and Winnipeg again put one in Kit/Waterloo. Maybe even one east, with the dollar the way it is. SOOO happy Chuck Swirsky is going sooner the better bloody meathead!! I can watch the raptors again and also listen to the fan mid afternoon.. Funny how nerds like him and Simmons who have no athletic bone in their bodies and never played sports, and what it takes to play them, know everything about them?? Those are my rants... Oh forgot Stubler? Why wait to announce your starter cornerback? GM only got you the leagues most outstanding player!! And you say "people called me an idiot all week" but we just won, guess what you still are!!!

Timmy D - Sundin never screwed anyone. This is a business. Why would he want to LEAVE the Leafs to see them get better without him? The Leafs gave him a no movement Clause. They signed it in good faith as did Sundin. It's his right to refuse a trade. He's never wavered on his feelings. Sundin has never screwed the Leafs. It's not his problem to let himself be traded so the Leafs can fix the mess that THEY caused.
Cappthook, 2008-07-02 13:23:13

that 10 mil offer is mind bogling... i think sundin is a great player, one of the elite forwards in the league, but $10 mil? no body worth that much, not a free agant at the end of his carrier.

the fact that he hasn't won a cup in TO is not his fault, he never had the supporting crew around him. and he did lead the leafs in scoring 13 years and he is a steady poing-per-game player which there aren't that many around, not for 14 years in a row.
Peter, 2008-07-02 12:17:54

I have been a nordiques/avalanche fan since the early 80's and saw Sundin play for my team. I'm not saying he is not a great player but come playoff time....if he gets there he is too soft and not a go to guy when you need a big goal. He is not worth 10 million. The most I would pay is 5-6 million for what he brings to a team.
