Are sensible deals being done at the NHL Entry Draft? Sat, June 21, 2008
The Ottawa Senators hosted the NHL's entry draft but it was three other Canadian teams that stole the show Friday.
The Calgary Flames, Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens were busybodies. The Flames made a pair of significant trades, acquiring winger Mike Cammalleri from the Los Angeles Kings and also shipping winger Alex Tanguay to the Canadiens.

Gordholytherethanthow, No I'm not married. I have a life partner and I slap the man bitch around just like I've been doing to you on this site. If you have nothing intelligent to say, then I suggest you go do some dishes or laundry or whatever you do. Just don't hate, stop the hate.

Pete,
If you are married, I surely hope you don't talk to her the way you talk to people here.

It doesnt matter what line you play on to be captain, he should be a player that does play a regular shift.
Mayers is a character player and plays hard every shift and every game. He would be a good role model for the kids if the Leafs have any next year.
I suppose you want McCabe the human plyon to be captain ? lol

Look clowns the reason the Sens fans booed Schenn wasnt anything personal against him, they were booing because it was there rivals pick nothing more.
This must have been your first time watching the draft because it does happen more often then you think or actually know.
I dont have a problem with it myself, just like if the draft were held in toronto and the fans booed the Sens picks. They are alot worse thing said and done than booing a draft pick lol

Oh look everyone, Johnny-One-Note is back with his "crack" and "clown" insults. He must be a pure joy to be around insofar as his family is concerned, because I have a feeling he is simply incapable of carrying on a normal conversation.
He could just as easily have made his point regarding McCabe without that crap.
The man (I assume he's a man) is certifiable. $*#@ him and his little red wagon.

You must be another idiot using crack. Do you really believe McCabe would make a good captain ? If you do I have some land for sale real cheap you clown.
McCabe is a joke, now that he cant use his can opener on forwards anymore he is nothing more than a human pylon in his own end. Only thing he can do is get points on the power play.

Time will tell if the deals were "sensible". They seem pretty fair right now.
I doubt Jamal Mayers will be the next captain of the Maple Leafs though.
He's a third line player who just came in from another team, so I wouldn't make him captain.
I think Bryan McCabe will be the next captain IF Sundin is not back with the team this October.
I say IF because there is still a chance he will be back; I don't believe all the media saying for sure that he won't.

Jake, thats got to be the oxymoron of all time, Toronto fans and class in the same sentence. Nothing could be further from the truth. I'm neither a TO, Ottawa nor Montreal fan and it is my unbiased opinion that TO fans are the rudest self centered masochistic fans bar none.
Disgruntledfan (AKA Pete), 2008-06-23 13:37:59
I can't argue with the points you make Jake, one reason being I can't recall any details from the last time the draft was held in TO.
But somehow, I can't envisage a scene whereby a Montreal or Ottawa draft is not greeted with a chorus of boos. We'll just have to wait and see I suppose.
(Just as an aside, when WAS the last time Toronto hosted the draft?)

DisgruntledFan:
I'm comfortable with that suggestion (i.e. T.O. fans have more class than to boo a young kid on the biggest day of his life).
I don't believe that celebrating a great hockey hit (as assessed by any intelligent hockey observer, and Alfie himself) on one of the dirtiest - and I'll grudgingly admit one of the most talented - players in the league, is a valid comparison.
