Have you given up on the Jays?
Wed, July 9, 2008

When you're in last place in your division and there's seven teams ahead of you in the hunt for the wild card, talk of a second-half surge and post-season possibilities borders on the impossible.

With the present little more than a depressing reality, the Blue Jays brass spent much of the pre-game media scrum with their vision of the future.

It was not an official running up the white flag ceremony on a season in tatters as much as it was a reality check.

How hopeful are you for a turnaround to the Blue Jays season? Have you given up on 2008? Have your say in our forum.

Jays brass concedes '08 a dud

Welcome back Cito. Good Luck with this pathetic excuse of a ball club. If you want to fix the Blow Jays, trade Burnett to the Cubs in exchange for Reed Johnson, fire J.P and Godfrey and get Ted Rogers to sell the team to someone who cares more about the game of baseball than they do about raising your cable rates. As long as J.P is a Jays employee, I won't be a Jays fan. GO REDSOX!

Dave,

I don't think we need a petition. :)

The owners and higher-ups with the Blue Jays will start to see beyond Ricciardi's excuses and see his record for what it is - and that the team is going nowhere with very few prospects.

I think J.P. will be gone after this season for sure (barring a miraculous surge and a playoff spot, which I don't see happening).

Lets start a fire J.P. petition, I will be the first to sign it lol.

Yes, Cito Gaston's record speaks for itself alright - 2 World Series championships!

The Blue Jays need a major rebuilding though and Ricciardi should be let go for sure.

They need to get in a lot of young players.

Dump JP. If all of us go on here and say this, maybe it will happen. Only takes a minute. Again- Dump JP!!!!!

Well Gibby's gone,Cito's back,Jays still can't hit,and JP's still here.Godfrey had a talk with JP and told him to fire Gibby and hire Cito to buy some time but it's just a matter of time before JP's gone too. Every move JP makes now will come from further up the ladder.JP's lost managements confidence and he'll be the scapegoat now that Gibby's gone.Cito should sit some of the dead bats out and bring some of the young guys up from time to time to see if he can get some chemistry going.I disagree with them getting rid of Ernie Whitt, they should have put him in as interum manager.

Ooops, and change my phone and entertainment over to anyone but Rogers. Afterall, if you hire incompetent people to do a job that involves watching a sport what does that say about the ones who manage our cable, internet and phone services.

Fact of life, a manager who cannot motivate cannot succeed. Fact, base hits win ball games so the idiot JP trades away one of his best blue collar base hit guys; therefore, the idiot puppet making the deals upstairs is the one who needs to go. AJ has shown his true colours, bye bye under-achiever, overpaid AJ. Ever notice how much better most former Jay's are when they play elsewhere (Lilly, Reid, Thomas on and on).

Question, why does a 100 million dollar line up require a batting coach anyway? If these guys are that good they should not need a batting coach. What they need is a hitting 'consultant' if you will to study their hitting abilities compared to the pitchers they will face and give them a game plan. Lets face it there is a very simple strategy in base ball, "little ball" wins this ain't like football, hockey, soccer or basketball where one must rely on all the other position players. There is only one guy on the mound until the ball is in play. There is only one guy in the batters box. Get back to basics, throw strikes, catch the ball and hit it or draw a walk. The only thing easier than that is deducting JP the clown needs to go.

Cito Gaston's record speaks for itself. Not only that, he also has reputation of being a great hitting coach, which the Jays badly need. With a few timely hits, the Jays could very easily turn their season around. The season is not over yet.
