Who will win the Conn Smythe Trophy?
Tue, May 13, 2008

Awarded annually to the player judged most valuable to his team during the NHL's Stanley Cup playoffs, the Conn Smythe Trophy has only ever been awarded to 36 different players since it was introduced in the 1964-65 NHL season.

Multiple winners include names like Bobby Orr, Bernie Parent, Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Patrick Roy.

Players from teams that lost the Stanley Cup, have won the Conn Smythe Trophy five times. Jean-Sebastien Giguere had that dubious honour in 2003.

With many outstanding players giving it their all in the semifinal stages, there are more than a few candidates.

Who do you think will win the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2008?

Guy from Ottawa, you are one hundred percent correct this is SLAM SPORTS, a comment site. If you don't like my comments, then make like George "Know it all" O'Leary, Jimmy the American Idiot and all the others and get lost.

hey pete give it up. SLAM SPORTS is great but you are a constant menace with your immature, ingnorant and disrespectful comments. why don't you crawl out of your parents basement and get a life. Crosby or Zetterberg, maybee Malkin.
Guy from Ottawa, 2008-05-22 22:00:24

Osgood for the Conn Smythe? LOL! He plays behind the best total defensive team in the NHL and typically faces about 20 shots a night, mostly from the outside. Don't make me laugh.

If Detroit wins then Zetterberg will get the Conn Smythe(depending on his play and barring any injuries), even though Lidstrom should since he is the linchpin of that team. If you don't believe me check out the WIngs record when he is injured. Not a huge point getter, but controls a hockey game more effectively than anyone I've ever seen and makes the entire defence better.

If Pittsburgh wins, then it will be Malkin, simply because he has shown that without Crosby he can carry a team, or even with Crosby for that matter.

I still can't believe someone suggested Osgood. laughable.

RJ the pucking idiot, tie goes to the goal scorer. Don't you remember Gretzky's first year in the league, tied with Marcel Dionne. Dionne given the award as he had more goals. Perhaps your brain cells are toast. As for the two Petes, read the strings moron, one is an oiler fan (me) the other a leaf. One thinks Crosby is the best in the league, me not so much. Keep believing the crap you spew.
Pete, 2008-05-22 15:37:03

Pete,

Zetterberg and Crosby are in a tie moron, and no, there is not Pete's because if there was the other Pete would notice we were talking to the idiot who cant put 2 and 2 together.
RJ, 2008-05-21 16:23:36

Back-peddlin Pete,

Unless you come up with a unique handle who can differentiate, or better yet, who cares?

YOU say there is more than one Pete, but judging by the constant name-calling, grammatical errors and spelling mistakes... THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!

No I am not a francophone, but at least I can spell it.

Oh yeah, Staal is playing soooooooo much better than Crosby...6 goals 1 assist +2 the only offensive category Staal beats Crosby in is shooting % because Staal doesn't shoot! Well maybe he would if he could hold on to the puck. And the only time in recent memory that anyone has compared Gretzky to Crosby was to contemplate that Crosby could end up winning the cup after spending less time in the NHL than many of the other greats such as Gretzky, Lemieux, Lafleur, or Messier.

Putting all that aside, he must be a great player...he has helped Hossa gather 19 points...this is after all the playoffs!!!!!!

S-T Collisse, 2008-05-21 12:48:17

PS S-T Collisse, I as well think Zetterberg will win the Conn Smythe.

RJ, Crosby is not leading the scoring race, Zetterberg is. Crosby has 21 points of which only 4 are goals. Have you seen his flukey goals? He has 17 assists do the play of Hossa and Malkin. Oh aren't they the two Europeans who are easily intimidated! Not so much, idiot.
Pete, 2008-05-21 10:20:38

S-T Collisse, I assume your a francaphone as you havn't figured out that there is more than one Pete on this site. I have clearly identified this on more than one occassion. So perhaps you are losing something in the translation. I have never said that Malkin is easily intimidated. The young Staal boy is playing better than Syd and the fact that you question it shows what you know about hockey. Syd is a great player but not as great as Canadians and the Canadian press make him out to be. Christ you guys compare him to Gretzky. Instead of ham fisting the key board, how about I ham fist your skull. Idiot.
Pete, 2008-05-21 10:15:38

So the village idiot has found another audience. Yeah I'm talkin' about you Pete. Don't you think it's about time you stopped ham-fisting your keyboard and found a dictionary? Your spelling mistakes are comical and your grammar is atrocious. If you do have a 6 year old at home, get him to proof read your asinine posts before your hit the send button you infantile moron!

"Crosby over rated"?

"Malkin easily intimidated"?

"Young Staal boy is playing better than Syd"?

And you think Merc is a clown?

I don't know which hockey you are watching, but it sure isn't the NHL.

By the way, Zetterberg or Osgood should win the Conn Smythe.
S-T Collisse, 2008-05-21 07:26:31

pete 12 year old kid

Yes Malkin was invisible for games 3 and 4, ohh they were played in Philly werent they lol Check the stats smart guy, your bum buddy did nothing.

pete is a 12 year old kid and an oilers fan so he doesnt know what a good 2 way player is since edmonton hasnt had any in years lol
