Can anyone stop the Red Wings?
Thu, May 8, 2008

The opening game of the NHL's Western Conference final was no contest.

The Detroit Red Wings continued to roll, winning their seventh straight game, in ripping the Dallas Stars 4-1 Thursday night.

As if they didn't already have enough offensive weapons, the Wings turned what had been an ordinary power play thus far in the post-season into a three-goal flame thrower.

I've stopped watching the playoffs - lost interest.

Actually, I watched some of the first Detroit-Dallas game and was bored to death by the play.

Doesn't matter to me who wins, but I'd like to see Pittsburgh sort of.

Nope. They're too good and are playing outstanding hockey. They make the teams they are playing look like AHL teams by comparison.

Even when the Wings and Pens meet in the Stanley Cup Finals, Wings will win in 6. Penguins, like past young teams, will have paid their dues, learned their lessons, and will return to win the Cup in 2009.

The Pens will in the cup finals!!!!

Dallas will!

Detroit is looking to redeem themselve after falling to mediocre teams the last couple playoffs. We are going all the way!!!

And screw you guys with playoff ENVY!!! How 'Swede' it is!!!(oilers suck).

Regarding Gerry's comments: "Hopefully philly or the pens. Detroit have won too often in the last few years..". What kind of appreciation for success is that? With that kind of "everybody gets a turn" logic, why not skip playoffs and just award the cup on a rotating basis. Maybe some of the Detroit bashers will be happy then. This year, Pittsburg, next year Calgaray, the next year Buffalo, the next year Vancouver, etc., etc., etc.

NO, NOBODY CAN

The Wings are on a roll right now and everything is going their way, puck bounces and penalty calls. But we all know that luck can change and the team can lose its Mojo.Just like gambling, all the cards are in your favor and then your luck changes and nothing goes right.I don't think the Wings good fortunes will last into the finals, where their fortunes will change against the Pens or Flyers.

The Wings will be tough to stop if the officiating keeps going their way as it did last night.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - the officiating in today's NHL is an absolute joke!!! I enjoy watching hockey but I find myself turning games off from time to time when the bad calls and non-calls become unbearable.

The exception - linesmen do a great job for the most part.
