The opening game of the NHL's Western Conference final was no contest.
The Detroit Red Wings continued to roll, winning their seventh straight game, in ripping the Dallas Stars 4-1 Thursday night.
As if they didn't already have enough offensive weapons, the Wings turned what had been an ordinary power play thus far in the post-season into a three-goal flame thrower.

Can anyone stop the Red Wings this year?

I don't think the serie will be as lobsided as last nights' game was.I expect Pittsburg to start playing a more physical style of game,as it's becoming quite obvious Detroits'defence is smothering the few offensive threats the pens managed to generate.Although i'd prefer the wings to win the cup,if only to stiffle the media-pro Pittsburg,(in my neck-of-the-woods anyways)I'm hoping the respective teams decide the outcome,NOT biased/incompetent officiating like I've witnessed more times that I care to mention.LET THE BOYS PLAY HOCKEY. Cheers !!

Two months ago, before the hoopla, this question would be a no-brainer.
Wings in five

That game was looked like men playing boys. I still think that the Pens will win 1 or 2.
As for the Crosby comments he is the 3rd or 4th best player in the league at a young age and getting better.

pete puck for brains
Gretz has said several times after watching Crosby play junior hockey he will be the player that breaks his records.
Crosby doesnt compare himself to Gretz because he is humble, he lets his play talk for him.
Good rant about nothing though kid lol.

Gee Wayne, are you making excuses? I still don't understant your point. Crosby stated the other nite in an interview that he is nowhere near Gretzkesque stature. Go pull another threat or yourself, clown.

After watching both finals i have to say Detroit is the team to beat. They have notched it up a gear at the right times. Penguin's have played well up till now but the better teams this year were in the west and Detroit will be too strong for them.
Osgood is also a far better goal tender than Fluery and will be less likely to be over awed by the final. Experience counts at this point and Detroit have it.
Having said this i believe we are in for a hell of a final series.

pete
Gee I wonder if Crosby getting hurt and missing a lot of games affected his point total.

Wayne, you seem to be able to pick up on something and go with it when it has nothing to do with anything. Crosby won a scoring title last year. He hasn't won anything this year.

I think the Pens will win the cup in 6. They have 2 solid lines where as the Red Wings only have 1.
The Pens have the advantage with there forwards, Red Wings do with there defence, goal tending looks to be pretty even.
Should be a fast paced series with 2 teams with good offences, that is if the refs dont favour 1 team over the other.

pete kid
you must be on cheap drugs. Crosby won a scoring title in only second second season and a mvp. what other 19 year old have done that recently ? malkin ? zetterberg ? datsyuk ?

it looks like if your the best player in the league and canadian but dont play for pete's oilers you are over rated lol.
