Is Ron Wilson right about Sundin? Thu, September 4, 2008
On one hand, Ron Wilson said he respects Sundin for not rushing back if he is unsure whether or not he wants to play -- adding that he would welcome back the longtime Leafs captain with open arms.
On the other hand, Wilson suggested that one of the problems with the sad-sack Leafs last year was a distinct lack of leadership.
And you don't have to be Howie Meeker to connect the dots there, that leadership is supposed to be one of the major responsibilities of the team captain.
Poor Maurice! Fire because of poor managment. He was a good coach, but it's hard to coach players that don't listen and management that screws up a team with no trade clauses. 3 or 4 years and Maurice could have been coaching a cup-contending Toronto team if management would have taken player acquisition seriously.

They shouldn't hire anyone until the playoffs are over and all the dust has settled. Then they will know who's available. They should wait for the new GM to come on board and let him hire his own coach, maybe thats the plan. There is no big hurry, they should take their time and let things play out.It was the right move to let Maurice go as he couldn't get any results and the players wouldn't or couldn't perform for him.Any new coach should only get a two year deal with options if the team performs.Of course no coach will be successful unless they give him the players.
