Is Ron Wilson right about Sundin? Thu, September 4, 2008
On one hand, Ron Wilson said he respects Sundin for not rushing back if he is unsure whether or not he wants to play -- adding that he would welcome back the longtime Leafs captain with open arms.
On the other hand, Wilson suggested that one of the problems with the sad-sack Leafs last year was a distinct lack of leadership.
And you don't have to be Howie Meeker to connect the dots there, that leadership is supposed to be one of the major responsibilities of the team captain.
Gee, what does it matter if Mats decides to go home in the offseason? He's paid to play for Toronto, not marry the city. He's as loyal to the team as you'll find and some people want him to pretend that TO is also a great place to live.
If I were in TO, had millions of dollars and all my summers off, I'd leave too. But this has nothing to do with the guy's committment on the ice.

Sadly, it won't matter who coaches the Leafs next. The decades long problems will remain. Those being; interference from non-hockey people running MLSE; an ownership group that has nothing to do with, or cares about hockey; The Leafs make money. Theyre not likely to change a formula that is financially benificial. Why would they care about those of us who are fans?

It's not always the fault of the Coach when a team finishes poorly at the end of the season. Let's see what Don Cherry can do as the next coach!

A Bill Waters type "pure hockey man" upstairs and a Kennan/Ruff type on the bench.
No more meddling/BS/red tape from the office and no more "Mr nice guy" on the ice.

Wasn't this guy supposed to be their saviour. Leaf Nation, what ajoke...lol.

Oh Oh Oh!
Maybe Dick Peddie should coach? He's awesome!
Or
Maybe the entire board of the Teacher's Pension Plan by committee?
Or
Maybe just prop up a used condom behind the bench with a couple of old syringes as assistants. It won't make a difference anytime soon.

We should reincarnate Ballard as GM, then he can hire some bum off the street as coach. Then he'll buy some hotdogs and set the ACC on fire and invite all the Leafs fans for a BBQ. THe only sensible thing to dowith the Leafs. I've seen Pee-Wee teams play better then these guys.

PAT QUINN......THEY SHOULD BEG HIM TO COME BACK!!!!!!

In my opinion the Leafs need another coach with qualities like Pat Burns. Whomever they hire as coach is not as important as who the hire as GM, that is the person who will build the team that a good coach can lead. Also Yeesh, What do you expect Sundin to do in the off season? I would expect him to go home, which he did. As a Leafs fan I have never been a big Sundin fan, but after staying in TO this year when he could have gone to any cup contender at the trade deadline I have a new found respect for him, that showed character, unlike your unintelligent comments, yeah I am still talking to you Yeesh.

It doesn't matter who they bring in. They have to start at the top by getting rid of some of the dead wood managers up top.
