Is Ron Wilson right about Sundin?
Thu, September 4, 2008

On one hand, Ron Wilson said he respects Sundin for not rushing back if he is unsure whether or not he wants to play -- adding that he would welcome back the longtime Leafs captain with open arms.

On the other hand, Wilson suggested that one of the problems with the sad-sack Leafs last year was a distinct lack of leadership.

And you don't have to be Howie Meeker to connect the dots there, that leadership is supposed to be one of the major responsibilities of the team captain.

Is Wilson right about the Leafs recent poor form?

Full story: Wilson suggests Mats was part of the problem

How about Sittler? If he can pot 6 goals and 10 points in a game then he should be able to tap in the occasional goal from that far away behind the bench.

George O'Leary should be coach.

Only problem with this team is they are firing all the wrong people, Players need to be the ones sent packing.

ward i have to laugh at your comments..bell tough.. you must of missed the game where he got filled in by ryan malone of the penquins..thats why he wearing the mask..now for coach vince mallette would be a fit in.. we just got rid of him in peterborough...

Maybe a former Senators coach. At least the Leafs will stand a good chance of making the playoffs...LOL.

How about Hillary Clinton as GM and Bob Cole as coach. I think Tye Dome would fit in some where in Hillary's organization as he gets along good with politicians. They would politicaly correct and would complement each other.

Bob may have to get to know the other players names which may take a while. They should also change the teams name to the "Titanics" and wear pink uniforms which would go good with mister know it all's jackets on HNIC. Looks good no you Toronto, the organization is no farther ahead than they were when Ferguson was selected.

Claude Noel. He has worked his way from the bottom of the professional ranks to being an assistant in Columbus. Everywhere he has been a head coach he has won championships.

Dale Hunter is the best candidate to coach the Leafs. His record in London speaks for itself and he'd certainly command the respect of the players.

Until the Leafs are SOLD to (new owner)someone who cares about hockey and about the long suffering fans who FAITHFULLY SUPPORT the team nothing is going to change. As long as the fans continue to put their arses and hard earned cash into seats (tickets), concessions, programs, team apparel and souveniers and the team continues to make the BIG BUCKS for the present owners NOTHING will change. Remember what they tell players who get traded "hockey is a business" so if the business ain't broke why fix it. As long as the cash keeps rolling in we all(Leaf fans) will be the big losers.

I feel bad for Maurice as he can only do so much with what he had . If he had made the playoffs would he still be there? Probably. So now they clean house and all the drama just makes the team look stupid but in reality its the guys who OWN the team who know that they will have the support of the fans as they love the Leafs and the cash will keep coming in no matter what.

Like someone said in an earlier post here , the Leafs SHOULD be a cornerstone in this league just as the Canadiens are, I agree whole heartedly.

PLEASE do something like give a damn about the fans and the abuse this team takes every year. I watched one game and saw the owner who will remain unnamed sitting in the stands and watching as the Leafs got pounded in front of a full house (as usual) chuckling away. I bet you don't look away when your paycheque comes, do you???

C'mon Cliff get the right guys in for the job (Mr. Bowman) and get those owners to give him free reign on what he does. Forget all this Burke and Nonis crap!

No more drama come back to the real hockey world this may be your last chance.

A loyal Leaf fan...

GO LEAFS GO!!!!!!

ps...yes I saw the last cup win in 67' and would like to see another one before you guys kill me from waiting!!!

Lorne I actually like the reality show idea - only let's give the 'experts' in the press (otherwise known as washed up players gms or guys who only played house league) one month each to be both coach and gm of the leafs. and when they completely demolish whats left and the team has one win in 66 games and the marlies are gutted we the fans can demand they quit their jobs and never pretend to know anything about hockey again

Hey, Ward.

Sundin may not be so tough but he sure is good with his stick! And Mark Bell - well, how's jail working out for him anyway?
