Is Ron Wilson right about Sundin?
Thu, September 4, 2008

On one hand, Ron Wilson said he respects Sundin for not rushing back if he is unsure whether or not he wants to play -- adding that he would welcome back the longtime Leafs captain with open arms.

On the other hand, Wilson suggested that one of the problems with the sad-sack Leafs last year was a distinct lack of leadership.

And you don't have to be Howie Meeker to connect the dots there, that leadership is supposed to be one of the major responsibilities of the team captain.

Is Wilson right about the Leafs recent poor form?

Lets start a pool, now when the pathedic leafs make the playoffs, but when Wilson will be fired. How can he change the attitude of the players he has? No support from management they only want to make money at the fans expense, he works for an interm GM because Toronto can't find anyone who wants the job. Good for Wilson for getting a long term contract cause he can stick it to the owners when the fire him.

How long before you reporters turn on him? By the way how are negotiations going with Brian Burke and his big ego, have you reporters hired him yet to GM the Leafs.

Wilson couldn't win with all that talent in San Jose. How is he going to win with little talent in Toronto? Well, the only thing that makes him the right chioce is toronto's way of doing things!!!! WRONG!!!!

It really doesn't matter because anyone they throw in the helm is going to be the sacrificial lamb during the rebuild.

The first thing that any GM wants, is to hire his own coach - this is Fletcher's choice.

Wilson was not dis-liked by his players but rather, he was hated! Oh well, at least Leaf fans will get to see "trap-hockey" compared to the usual "crap-hockey" that they are used to.

John Anderson - a former Leaf player and someone with a great rep of working with young players would have been a great choice but.......nevermind, these are the Leafs.

Wilson.. as Leaf coach.. no.. no.. no.. NO and NO! The guys got a crap coaching record. He goes into teams that have already been built and then does little to nothing with them. 41 years and counting.. the Leafs need a coach.. not a wanna-be.

I don't know who would be the better or best choice.. maybe Tortorella who was just fired by the Lightning... well, he'd be better than Wilson anyway.

As far as I'm concerned, they fired the guy that should be coach. It's a GM the Leaf's should have focused their attention on and let the new GM make the decision as to whether or not to keep or replace Maurice.

I'm in my mid 40s... I don't honestly ever expect to see the Leaf's win the cup before I leave this earth anyway, so, does it really matter in the end?

Hey leo, nice call - but I think Peddie would be scared that the minute the Hunters don"t get what they need - Wham Bam!

People seem to like to belittle Wayne Gretzky's accomplishments. But, remember that he often got more assists than the closest player even got in points.

If it was so easy to rack up points back then, why weren't the other top players doing it too?

Gretzky wasn't the most talented or flashy player, he just was smart and thought about how to play the game.

i still think peddie should GM and retain his president title then he can fire himself. maybe he could also be a player/coach?

Why is posting in here seemingly like arguing with a doorknob at times?

ALL I ever said was, when Gretzky was racking up the majority of his goals in his first 11th and 12th seasons the competition did not include players from the former Soviet Union and East Block countries. Period. Nothing about this group being better than that group or about Gretzky being better (or not better) than Crosby. Nothing to that end. Read the f*^@ing thing again before putting words in my mouth.

Indeed, I even said both were the premier players IN THEIR TIMES.
