Do you sympathize with Roger Clemens? Fri, May 2, 2008
NEW YORK - Roger Clemens' lawyer says he will talk with his client about whether to press ahead with a defamation suit following a wave of unpleasant publicity in the wake of reports linking the pitcher to numerous women.
"He's getting pummelled," attorney Rusty Hardin said Friday.
The Daily News reported Monday that Clemens had a decade-long relationship with country star Mindy McCready that began when she was a 15-year-old aspiring singer and the pitcher was with the Boston Red Sox. Hardin said then "at no time did Roger engage in any kind of inappropriate or improper relationship with her." McCready was quoted by the News as saying: "I cannot refute anything in the story." Oh boy! Now they're trying to make Roger into a pedophile.
Good smear campaign I suppose.

He is 10 lbs of crap in a 5 lb bag. It just oozes out everywhere. Disgusting. What a role model! To think, at one time I actually liked baseball.
You know people of all walks do all kinds of drugs, and in todays world it comes out in the open.
What bugs me is that these players lie about it and I hide it instead of coming out and telling the truth.
Another thing is MLB who clearly profited off the muscles of the so-called homerun hitters such as Canseco, Bonds, McGwire, after the strike. So too the sports journalists who now claim they suspected juice but never really knew.
Again - more crap!

What's the big deal? Bill Clinton who cheated on his wife for years, was a blatant liar, and a sex pervert, reportedly just earned 50 million on the speaking tour in 2007.
With these charges against Roger maybe he should run for President next!

I do have sympathy because ever since his name was in the Mitchell Report, too many in the sports media have been more than willing to play the role of judge and jury. Trials by the media are never right and never fair.

I remember reading a story about Clemens when he was pitching for the Jays. He was in the club house getting a tee time and someone actually had the gall to ask him for green fees. Clemens threw a fit as he expected to play for free. I guess a pro athelete making millions of dollars a year cant afford to fork out whatever the green fees were at that course. Poor Clemems, what a sad life you millionaires lead. That is when I lost all respect for the man.
All this stuff going on is just icing on the cake as far as I am concerned.

People complain about the decisions our legal system makes but it's no wonder, so many line up to convict people without hearing the evidence. Last I heard people are innocent until proven guilty and you are not deemed guilty because you are paid ridiculous sums for throwing a ball around.
Yes Clemens is probably a jerk, guilty as charged. But it's funny how guys like him and Bonds are being crucified yet most or all of what they allegedly did was at a time where it was not illegal to do so.
So yes, I feel bad for Clemens. The same rabble that filled the seats and lead to his $20M+ salary have now turned on him and they want blood.

The analogy to Conrad Black is very accurate. Both are very narcistic in character, spoiled by their riches, and in many ways feel untouchable because of their status. One difference; Black's downfall is complete, Clemens is just starting!!

I've watched him on and off the field. He's about as arrogant as a human can possibly get. It's good to see that once in a while, a pro athlete who probably thinks he is more worthy to the human race than a doctor or teacher, get what's coming to them. Let's hope that the courts set an example with him to the others like him.
