Will the Penguins contend again? Thu, June 12, 2008
At the very moment the Detroit Red Wings were holding their Stanley Cup parade Friday, the Pittsburgh Penguins were saying goodbye and heading off into a shorter-than-usal off-season.
Indeed Kevin, this is what us TYPICAL CANADIANS do on "hockey comments forums"..."yak" about hockey. If we wanna discuss/complain everyday life issues, look on the top right hand corner, right beside he question "Can the pens be stopped?"..It's called "lifewise comments".You may wanna try it.

lol... typical Canadians! Spending there time yakkin about hockey when we have soaring job losses, our taxes are getting out of control, increasingly higher cost of living, manufacturers moving south and TTC ticket takers making $54,000! To take or dispense a ticket! lol. Yep, keep up the hard work on important things!

Give your head a shake, the Pens tanked it becasue they know the Flyers would beat them just like they did in the regular season.
The Flyers are a team built for the playoffs, the Pens know this thats why they didnt want them in the first round.
There are more than 2 defence man on the Flyers ohh bright guy. Tiimonen is the Flyers shut down guy not Hatcher or Smith, glad you are know whats going on though lol.
You have not watched any of the Flyers / Habs games since you think Hatcher / Smith are the top 2 defencemen lol.
All these Laffs, Sens and Oilers fan have nothing better to do but make these idiotic comments about teams they know nothing about because their teams are on the golf courses and have been for weeks lol.

As much as you'd like me to engage you in juvenile insults I think I'll pass lol...
As for the Penguins tanking that last game, it's debatable, but if they did it had nothing to do with the Flyers but more to do with the Sens. I mean come on, the Sens were ripe for the picking and quite frankly I don't blame the Pens for wanting to play them.
As for Philly being more physical..nah, don't think so. Everybody said the Rangers were more physical too, and last time I checked it's the Rangers banged up and not the Penguins. Pittsburgh's forwards will have a heyday with Hatcher and Smith, and Philly will find Pittsburgh's d-men a far tougher prospect than Montreal's.
Oh, and yes, I am an Oilers fans, and proud of it no matter how they do. Not sure exactly what that has to do with this convo but you posted that so I figured I should confirm. Give your own head a shake little guy. Philly may win a game or two, but Pittsburgh will come out of the East.

Good logic John, the Pens must go through ?????
They will if they win the series lol
Bill, 2008-05-01 13:18:46
Based on the logic regarding the regular season and the results so far in the playoffs. Penguins must go through.
John, 2008-05-01 08:07:40
norbit,
LOL at you for saying regular season meant nothing between Flyers and Penguins.
The Penguins tanked there last game of the season so they wouldnt play the Flyers in the first round.
The Flyers are alot more physical than the Pens are. The Pens are intimidated by the Flyers.
Give your head a shake, your an Oilers fan, enough said lol.

I see a lot of comments about how Philly beat the Pens 5 games out of 8 in the regular season, which tells me a lot of people need to give their heads a shake, because the regular season means almost NOTHING come playoff time. Many predicted San Jose would dominate all the way to a Stanley Cup win...lol, we can all see how that's turning out, as well as Montreal winning the East in the regular season, then it took them 7 games to take out Boston, a team they had beat 10 straight times in the regular season and now they look to be on the ropes against Philly. Washington was the NHL's best team the last half of the season, Dallas was on a bad skid going into the post-season etc etc. The point is that regular season means NOTHING. Right here, right now Pittsburgh looks strong: big-time strong. Philly does too, but their physical edge against Montreal will evaporate against the Pens, and Pittsburgh can more than mtch talent with them. I think it will be Pittsburgh and Philadelphia in the conference final, with the Pens winning and then facing Dallas in the finals.

THE PENS MAY BE ABLE TO BEAT ANYBODY IN THE EAST BUT THEY CAN NOT BEAT ANYBODY IN THE WEST. WAIT TILL THEY PLAY A REAL TEAM.
GO WINGS
