Which NHL squad is Canada's team?
Tue, April 29, 2008

A recent poll indicates that 40% of Canadians polled consider the Montreal Canadians "Canada's Team".

That's compared to just 24% for the Toronto Maple Leafs, who were considered tops a year ago.

What do you think? Who is really Canada's team? Have your say!

Serioulsy Gordholio you think a lot of non sports fans on on this site to post their opinions ? lol It didn't matter that the Habs were in the playoffs. The fact is, as the poll shows the Habs came up with 40% I think it not only has to do with their game play, but who they are off the ice as well. And let's face it, they have a fantastic history for any newcomers.

jimf, the odd spelling error is one thing, but holy shat man, get yourself a dictionary or a the very least, spell check your work in word prior to hitting the send button. It's to a point where it's almost impossible to understand what your trying to state.

The Oilers are like the Grren Bay Packers, everyone loves them they play hard every night and they compete without excuses or whining thats why they are Canadas tem, ttake note leaf nation and keep your whiners like tucker, Domi, Mccabe, Sundin out east

mikey boy in ottawa

make me laff fans must be brain dead to continue to support such a lousy hockey team.

I guess after watching the playoffs and how good teams play you still cant see how bad your old, slow and talentless the laffs truly are.

laffs chip it out of there end, dump it in the other teams end lol, good teams still playing in the playoffs make 2 or 3 passes and they are in the other teams end. I guess thats expecting to much from the make me laffs to make a few quick passes to get the puck out of there end instead of always chipping it out off the glass lol.

Might I suggest not taking the poll when Montreal is in the playoffs and Toronto is not.

Of course, a lot of people are going to pick Montreal when they're in the playoffs.

I don't think loyalties really change in one year - unless you are not a real fan.

Toronto's team at least should be the Marlies not the Laffs.

At least the Marlies make the playoffs lol.

LEAFS

All others are Bandwagon jumpers just look at the Senaturds fan base.

Habs all the way. The western teams have too many bandwagon fans and just not enough critical mass to call them Canada's team. The Sens are too new as well, so it's TO or Montreal. TO fans are delusional and fill the stadium thinking they have a shot every year, no matter how bad their team gets. Habs have it.

The fans there are not afraid to call their team on poor play and to expect more, while recognizing when they aren't. Fair and balanced. Then the success they've had at Canada's game should count for something.

The only downside to them being Canada's Team is that they are actually owned by an American. Stupid move by Molson to sell them and is the reason why I won't buy Molson products anymore. But hey, I'd rather cheer for a team owned by a Yank who tries to put a good product on the ice than the Teacher's Union who don't seem to care. All they want is to fill the seats. And the Leafs actually hurt hockey in Canada by maintaining their monopoly over the biggest hockey market in the country. Until they allow another team in Hamilton or even TO the Leafs won't improve

Pittsburgh Penguins.
gordholio, 2008-05-04 19:50:18

Ok, Montreal, a team playing out of Quebec, with a fan base that rides the teams asses into the ice when they're down. Quebec a province that has wanted to separate from Canada on several occasions. Think about it!

It's narrowed down to five choices in my mind. Toronto (hockey capital of the WORLD, commonly stated fact), Ottawa, Calgary, Vancouver, or Edmonton.
