Can Canada win the World Championship?
Mon, May 12, 2008

Canada overcame its first true challenge at the IIHF World Hockey Championship but had some worrisome flaws exposed in the process.

Dany Heatley's second goal of the game with 46.8 seconds left in the third period lifted Canada to a 5-4 victory over the U.S. He one-timed a Rick Nash pass over the glove of Craig Anderson while falling to the ice for his tournament-leading sixth goal.

Full story: Canada made to work in win over U.S.

leonid, spoken like a true american idiot. you are 1 to talk, what about getting the goal judge fired ?

waaa waaa boo hoo, stay in your own american papers clown.

Let the whining begin!

We have to get rid of the delay of game call on pucks shot over the glass.

We have to get rid of the shoot out.

Etc., etc., etc.

Every time something goes against the Canadians in international play, changes are needed in the collective minds of the Canadian sports media.

You got beaten fair and square by a great Russian squad - suck it up and come back strong next time.

Might want to stick in an E that word learn. Just incase you are too stupid to see.

Rusty Power,

I completly agree with you, i live in Halifax and there was a story on the news about how a Slovakia player gave a three year old girl a hockey stick and when she went outside, osme older boys took it from her, she went back to ask for another one and the players gave her an autographed stick and a puck and suveniers and what not!

No. We rule. This is OUR Sport.

BK: we only build "world class cars" here if you consider GM, Ford, Toyota, Chrysler and Honda to be world class (unless I missed any). Skoda is a sponsor because the World Championships are a big deal in Europe, much bigger deal than over here every year, and remember it is broadcasted over there (TV money). Yes, I would like to see more Canadian sponsors too, but those sponsors threw their money at NHL playoff broadcasts because they figured more people would watch that. See gordholio's comment as proof.
GO Canada GO!, 2008-05-15 09:37:29

rusty thanks for sharing that. it sounds like nhl player disease. the big money goes to ther head and they forget who pays 4 the tix to watch them. most norway players are not in nhl so it is not surprising they stopped to sign autographs.

shame on the players who didnt sign autographs - perhaps u all forgot that ur in the worlds because you got ur butts kicked in the nhl playoffs so dont think u are so great that u cant spare 10 minutes to sign for some kids

Canada against Norway. Elite (most of them) NHL players against a bunch of sad sacks.

Pretty exciting, eh?
