Canada overcame its first true challenge at the IIHF World Hockey Championship but had some worrisome flaws exposed in the process.
Dany Heatley's second goal of the game with 46.8 seconds left in the third period lifted Canada to a 5-4 victory over the U.S. He one-timed a Rick Nash pass over the glove of Craig Anderson while falling to the ice for his tournament-leading sixth goal.

If he didnt have a good reason not to play for Canada then he is only hurting himself and his chances to play for Canada in the Olympics in 2010.

Wayne, he doesn't need to explain himself. He has you, self proclaimed excuse maker to the stars, to do that for him. In closing as a fan of the game and a season ticket holder (not flames) I think we are entitled to his reasons for not playing for his country.

We lost the final because the coach forgot the cardinal rule here. When you have a lead you keep pressing forward. The Russians showed a lot of grit and deserved the win because they didn't stop playing. Forget the excuses about the iced puck because we should never have been in that extra time anyway.
The game was ours to lose in the final period. Tip for the coaches coming up here (Guy's the other team can't score if you are going forward with the puck).
Suck it up Canada we lost fair and square same rules for everyone Don Cherry.

Again with the officiating, it's freaking bruttal. For this game of hockey to be as good as it can be, we need to do something about the officiating. It's almost as bad as olympic figure skating judges. It's a sad state of affairs in all of hockey from initiation to pros. I have to take one last kick at Dion Phageuff, if guys like him would have sucked it up and played, Canada could have iced a much better team. Phaneuff, Smyth, Brodeur, you should be ashamed of yourselves!

They will win the tourney easily. This years team is at least as good as last years if not then better."
