What were the Flames missing?
Wed, April 23, 2008

The good news in the Game 7 loss to the Sharks was the Flames showed enough character to take the series against a favoured team to the limit, especially when they trailed after five games.

The bad news is they were thrashed when it mattered most.

What happened to the Flames? What were they missing in their lineup to put them over the edge and wins a playoff series? Have your say in our forum.

Move to pull Kipper stinks

We have to stop meeting like this people are going to talk. This is kind of pathetic what you anti orv

people are saying. Do you realize the exact thing I was getting at as arrogant canadians you are proffesing

every time you tell me to get out of canada or my comments are nothing but dribble. You are only re affirming what I already know about canadians, they are strong in numbers but weak and pathetic as one. Would you talk to me like you are if this little screen was gone and I was standing there I highly doubt It. God bless Canada

not narrow minded canadians. GO FLAMES GO.

Sutter should be held fully accountable for any failure of the team. He has done a lot of good, but he also brought in the lazy, apathetic players who are causing the problem. Maybe he should stick to coaching and leave the GM duties to someone who is more capable?

Thanks for editing my little mistake, you people at slam are great. I just couldnt leave this site alone, talk about obsessive

compulsive. I was just going through the comments

and decided that Mark has hit the nail on the head. statistically the flames do

exceed and if anything match perfectly to san jose, so what is it with all this san jose elite status , its totally a media driven concept. Mark

my words get it Mark. flames will win this series

or there is no justice in hockey. orv.

Orv,

Not 1 person agreed with your insane comment that Canada is an arrogant country. Saying you kept your dirty little secret that you are Canadian when travelling in Europe is comical. You can go anywhere in the world except the USA and say you are Canadian and people will love you and treat you with respect.

Your comment was nothing but dribble and a waste of your time that it took for you to type it.

If you are so ashamed of being Canadian leave, no one is stopping you.

remember me its orv the loving canadian whats with all the angry replys, I thought we are a respected

and non arrogant nation. I guess the truth hurts eh. what brought me to this great site again is about hockey not national popularity. I am going back to game 4 in calgary, does anybody remember when kipper froze the puck in the crease and the refs would not blow the whistle, well guess what people the sharks hammered away at our great goalie, who by the way was in disbelief took the puck away we then got a bullcrap call on conroy the rest is history and you still dont think the fefs or bettmans henchman

dont sway a game, give me a break. OH ya I almost forgot I am on drugs ....not. Have a great day all you wonderfull canadian people. orv.

For sure the Flames can come back, after all is said and done I think the Flames need to replace all the assistant coaches, love Keenan but these assistant coaches have been here far to long with little success, start with Preston, Sutters loyality to these gentlemen is actually hurting the team, some fresh and youthful replacements would be welcomed by the players I'm sure,I know I'm tired of this old boys club, I think Iggy is to....

Book your tee times; it's been fun, but it's OVER! The Flames are a fun team to watch, highly competitive, and talented, but NOT good enough to win the silverware. Sorry. It's great to have a strong season, but what really counts is how well you are clicking when the playoffs start. Sharks are my pick to win it over Montreal in the final, and for dark-horses that might sneak in and make it more entertaining, I say watch for Nashville in the west, and the Rangers in the east.
Roy T, 2008-04-18 06:44:00

I certainly hope they can, but, I don't think they will make it to the Stanley Cup Final, sorry to say.

The Flames are great at what they do, but an offensive powerhouse they are not. outside of Iggy, Langkow and Phaneuf they dont really have any guys that are real threats. Calgary's bread n butter is physicality, hard forecheck and screening goalies and they're very good at that. I think what most people are saying is that if they get lured into a more open style of game that the odds are in San Jose's favor, because that's not Calgary's system.

i find it funny how lots of ppl are saying that the flames cant match the sharks ofensivly.

sharks scored 222 goals this year, and clagary did 229.

thorton lead his team with 96pts, iggy with 98

san jose next highest scorer had 62 pts, where as calgary had 3 other 60+ pts getters...

seems pretty close to me
