What were the Flames missing?
Wed, April 23, 2008

The good news in the Game 7 loss to the Sharks was the Flames showed enough character to take the series against a favoured team to the limit, especially when they trailed after five games.

The bad news is they were thrashed when it mattered most.

What happened to the Flames? What were they missing in their lineup to put them over the edge and wins a playoff series? Have your say in our forum.

Move to pull Kipper stinks

Find Out,

Spoken like a true Oilers or Canucks fan. The Flames have probably the best and deepest group of defencemen in the league.

Sure they could use 2 more good forwards but what they lack in talent they more than make up with in hard work.

nice one findouthowyou, you obviously don't know much about hockey. You sound like a make beleaf fan.

Flames overated, by who? You maybe.

Funny how some of you self-important people like to believe you know so much but just come across as a boob.

oh well.....time will tell

I sure hope so because if they win tonight they get the Dead Things next round and they will do the same thing to Datzuk and Zetterberg that they did to Thornton and Marleau, pound then every chance they get. I think the Flames can beat the Dead Things. Iggy is a awesome captain, he leads by example and works his butt off every shift. Second and third lines gotta chip in with a few goals here and there.

I think the Flames are showing so much determination and grit and it makes me so proud of them! I hope they go on but if they don't they sure gave us one helluva show! One thing I do know about them ... you can never count them out! This might be the year us fans are pleasantly surprised! GO FLAMES GO!!!!

Well, with any luck they or Montreal will stay in. Although, I believe since Montreal is having such a hard time that they indeed will likely be eliminated in this first round. Having said that both teams from last year's stanley cup final are out of the playoffs so it's anyone's guess now who's going to take it this year.

Nope. Iginla, and the whole flames organization is the most overrated in the entire league. 10 shots on goal doesn't belong in the playoffs. Hopefully next year they start getting rid of some of these players. They have way way way too much money locked up long term in like 5 players tho, so they will continue to suck for years to come. Time to start building a team around a centre, (as good teams do) not around a winger.

While we're at it, lets change this STUPID point system. ZERO points for a loss, or 3 points for a regulation win (Lets make a game won in regulation worth the same as a game won in a shootout)
Findout Howyou, 2008-04-20 13:51:04

If the second and third lines dont start scoring tonight the Flames are done.

They rely on Iggy way to much. Gotta feel for him though, he gives 100 % every shift and every game, he is a great player and leader but he cant do it all every game by himself.

This has to end somewhere

or does it. You are all right Canada is the greatest country in the world. We as Canucks are the most generous hospitable people on earth

we have overcome obstacles

like our biggest most influential financing centres blown to bits from

crazed fundementalists and rallied to our countries needs. We have overcome nowhere near the travesties

other countries have. Probably because we are a new country, ya right seems to me we caved to the british during the revolutionary period while

Freemasons where kicking british butt to form the new frontier of America. Canada is nothing more than a northern state with an imaginary border, and if you read anything you will find this border will disappear in the future along with our constitution

manifest destiny remember Grade school.I am not a hateful person but this gives me a bad taste of how

you are rallying without giving it a deeper look.

Reminds me of nazi Germany.

All I am trying to say is

we are not as great as we think. my god look at the world health statistics or the IMF statistics ,GDP per capita. We have yet to prove ourselves in a crisis

situation, unless you think

the sars outbreak is huge

on the international scope of disasters. You might be right I might be wrong only

time will tell.

I hope we can concentrate on hockey now. orv.

orv,

I am in Toronto. Anytime your in the area im game man. Its people like you that travel abroad and give the rest of us a bad name. There is nothing wrong with that I AM CANADAIN baseball cap you say you saw a Canadian wearing in a foreign country. I have 1 also and I would wear it any place in the world because I am a proud Canadian, not to be arrogant.

P.S.

Molson Canadian had them baseball caps and t-shirts in there cases of beer for Canada's birthday celebrations. I also have the t-shirt.
Ken, 2008-04-18 18:37:35

Yes, Orv, as a matter of fact, if this "little computer screen" was gone, I would repeat what I posted to your face as many times as you wanted. And I am sure the others who posted would oblige too (or do you think us "arrogant Canadians" are afraid to stand behind what we say?) Mind you, I did not call you any names or tell you to "get out of the country" (you say you travel alot, so you seem to do that yourself anyway).

All I did point out was that when it comes to Canada's international image, the opinion of those born, raised and living in other countries/continents mean more to me than a travelling Canadian who thinks his countrymen are arrogant. I asked some of those people --- and there is at least one person in each of the U.K., East Asia, the Caribbean, the U.S. (yes, the U.S.) and Europe who beg to differ with you.
