What were the Flames missing?
Wed, April 23, 2008

The good news in the Game 7 loss to the Sharks was the Flames showed enough character to take the series against a favoured team to the limit, especially when they trailed after five games.

The bad news is they were thrashed when it mattered most.

What happened to the Flames? What were they missing in their lineup to put them over the edge and wins a playoff series? Have your say in our forum.

Move to pull Kipper stinks

Not a chance, look at the two teams, in depth and talent and consistancy. Its going to be a blow out 4-0 or 4-1 for san jose, the flames wont win more then one game, and that lone game will be a home game so at least the fans will have something to cheer for at least once.

Flames are toast! They won't even get a sniff against the Sharks.
ABC - anybody but calgary!, 2008-04-08 14:30:56

The outcome hinges on Marleau, Thornton and Nabokov. If they perform like they are capable of then Calgary will lose. Iggy, Phaneuf and Kipper are great, but the Sharks are a far deeper team and Thornton looks different this year, a lot more angry. I'm not sure exactly how this roster is built for the playoffs as secondary scoring is a problem for the Flames, but, I'm going with BenTO here and saying (quietly) go Flames go.

I will always have faith in the Flames.If they come to play like we know they can and play all 45 min they will do well.GO FLAMES GO

Flames have big problems on the back end, Cory Sarich was a bad deal for the Flames, he has had a terrible year, besides Dion the rest of the Flames D are just OK, none of them being a top six, this is where they will fall down, hope I'm wrong.........

The flames will win in 6 games. The leaders and fans will have em fired up.

I think San Jose might win, but I also think all the "experts" grossly overrate the Sharks. What has Nabakov done in the playoffs besides beat Nashville? The Flames are very capable of an upset here, they have a solid goalie, a top notch #1 defender, a playoff tested captain, a coach with a Stanley Cup ring and a supporting roster built for the playoffs. Have faith Calgary! From TO

Well..Someone once sais that faith can move mountains.So...having said that,all the flames have to do,is to move the sharks outta the way,Very doubtfull that will happen but,always a possibility.

It tears me up to say this but I hope so. Its all Alberta has left. Go Flames Go (till next season)
Dwain, 2008-04-08 00:16:01

I have faith in the Flames when:

a) most of the team stops hoping that Iginla scores a couple, and that Kipper stops the impossible;

b) everyone else just does their job;

When it comes down to what matters, you either do it or you don't. You can't hope someone else will take care of it. The Flames solve that one and they'll be alright, not great, but good enough.
