Should Guy Lafleur sue the police?
Wed, April 2, 2008

MONTREAL -- Montreal hockey great Guy Lafleur is suing Montreal police and Quebec's solicitor general for a total of $3.5 million because of the warrant issued for his arrest earlier this year.

The suit targets Crown prosecutor Lise Archambault, Montreal police officer Francoise Fortin and their respective employers, lawyer Jean-Pierre Rancourt said in an interview yesterday.

Rancourt said Lafleur's reputation has been tarnished by the decision by authorities to proceed with the arrest warrant instead of a summons.

Dummy from Ottawa, Guy, I use the term assume as you state he would be recognized therefore would never hide. I gauarantee you the only place Guy Lafluer is recognizable is Quebec and the rest of Canada for any hocky fan as old as you probably are. You talk about mature subject matter, your response was quite mature, whats next, my dad is bigger than your dad! Score brownie points with whom? Listen clown you stated "His celebrity status makes that impossible". which indicates you feel he couldn't hide, and thats what I was playing on. Speaking of playing, go play with yourself clown.

he should stop putting the spot light on other people and take some time to think about what he is doing before he does it how many little girls have to get hurt by his son before both guy and mark learn the meaning of the word no?? some respect for other parents little girls would be a good start and some realisation that his son who seems to like little girls is a petafile.helping his son to take little girls to hotels is just morally wrong.his parenting skills are very questionable in light of all the SERIOUS charges his son HAS AGAINST HIM WHERE ARE HIS BRAINS BRINGING ANOTHER CHILD FOR HIS SON TO DO WHAT HE WANTS WITH.HE IS AS GUILTY AS HIS SON AND HAS NO RESPECT FOR OTHER PARENTS CHILDREN.IT MAKES ME SICK TO THINK THAT HE FEELS JUSTIFIED IN SUEING POLICE OFFICERS AND PROSECUTERS FOR DOING THEIR JOBS IN TRYING TO PROTECT OUR CHILDREN FROM GUY AND HIS SON.I HOPE HE GETS WHAT HE DESERVES!!!

Pete,I'm going to correct you. You say 'I' assumed he would run and hide.... are you crazy???!!! First I did'nt say that,(Dwain did) and second Guy Lafleur would never do that. There's no reason for it and I'm sure he never gave it a thought. And is your reason for posting simply to annoy people or an attempt to score cheap brownie points with your ignorant and disrespectful rubbish. You never seem to have anything intelligent to say. Perhaps it's the way you were brought up. So Petey boy, look me up next time you're in Ottawa, I promise to set you straight once and for all. And remember, mature subject matter ya little worm.

Dummy from Ottawa, I mean Guy from Ottawa. First you assume he would run and hide in Canada as I'll bet he is not that recognizable a celebrity as you would have us believe. In fact I'll bet most people under the age of 30 in Canada don't know or care who he is. The question is and was, Should Guy Lafleur sue the police? No he shouldn't, he has the right to obviously. However, he is also obviously guilty of a serious crime. He admited he lied to the courts, when he later admitted driving his son to have sex with a minor. Guy, you are the one who needs to "dummy up".
Pete, 2008-04-09 09:08:40

Dwain dummy up."Guy would have a lot easier time running and hiding than say you or me" You gotta be kidding. His celebrity status makes that impossible. No matter how much money you have. And where do you get this information that Guy Lafleur has millions?
Guy from Ottawa, 2008-04-07 22:54:20

Rick W.

Guy would have a lot easier time running and hiding than say you or me. His millions would keep him safe for a very long time.
Dwain, 2008-04-07 14:34:43

Some of you missed the main point of the article. He was suing because the arrest warrant was issued INSTEAD of a summons. In his situation, would a summons have sufficed?
Beno TO, 2008-04-04 12:23:42

Rick W. what the hell are you on. What is a Court of Law? It's public opionion buddy, nothing more. Why should this has been feel he is above the law, typical sports personality. But it's our fault for putting these dimwits on a silver platter. They really begin to think their special and above public opionion. Well there not Rick W and they are accountable. BTW the girl was underaged, what is he thinking, oh yeah he doesn't care. Thinks he can threaten with a law suit and it will all go away. hmmm sounds allot like Mulroney or any player from the NBA.
Pete, 2008-04-04 09:20:13

Guy should be treated like anyone else would be treated in a situation like that... Having said that, I don't think that treating your 16 year old kid who's been in trouble with the law to a love fest with your girlfriend in a hotel... What's up with that?
burix, 2008-04-04 00:29:33

Just because he used to play hockey it doesn't make him special.

Sure just put my share on my tax bill, be happy to pay some idiot for thinking he is special.
