Is Bertuzzi shifting the blame?
Fri, March 28, 2008

Former Vancouver Canucks coach Marc Crawford has been dragged into a multi-million dollar lawsuit over NHL forward Todd Bertuzzi's infamous sucker punch on Steve Moore.

Moore originally file the suit against Bertuzzi and courts documents show the former NHL player has now consented to name Crawford in the suit as well.

Bertuzzi sought to have Crawford included in the suit based on the claim that his NHL contract compelled him take direction from his coach.

Is Bertuzzi shifting the blame onto his coach, or is Crawford also liable for what happened on the ice in 2004? Have your say in our forum.

Bertuzzi isn't. But some shifty lawyer sure as hell is!

This Whole Bertuzzi thing is getting a little bit sickening. If Moore was not seriously injured in this incident then none of this crap would be happening. Retribution has been going on in all contact sports for years and it will still carry on for many more. It's unfortunate Moore got seriously hurt but it was just bad luck. What about the stomp Simon put someone's foot or all the other cheap shots, what if they were injured and unable to play again. This would create havoc and put an end to contact hockey. It's a tough game, you give some and you get some back. Maybe the NHLPA should have compensation or insurance for players who's career ends accidentally. Enough is Enough with this.

Wow! big surprise there,eh! Bertuzzi is such a class act!LOSER!

When Crawford said "he must pay the price" how does it translate into "sucker punch the guy and punch him senseless while he's faced down, unconscious on the ice?"

Finally someone with some common sence. There is many events that led up to this and so far Bertuzzi has takin all the blame. I have yet to see anyone get crushed vertibrae from gettin puched in the face. People have gotten kicked in the head from horses and not gotten that kind of injury. Anyone with half a brain knows the injury came from the dog pile. Now as far as the cheap shot. . . he never should have gone about it that way. What would have been a proper way of getting the job done would be to deliver a good solid check. A little point for anyone that thinks Bertuzzi is strong enough to crush vertabrae, it was Moore's own team mate that jump on Bertuzzi's back that made him fall on Moore. Its all there on the tape. . . and don't watch the little clip that the media wants to miss lead you with and only show the cheap shot and not everyone else jumping in.

Moore deliberatly tried to hurt Naslund and did. In the universe of what comes around - goes around, Moore got what he deserved.

Bertuzzi deliberatly tried to hurt Moore and has not paid any price. Now he blames his coach.

Crawford and the Canucks I believe were fined at the time of this incident - they paid their price.

I used to like Bertuzzi, now I see him more as the pathetic coward that he is. As for Moore, get healthy and just go away.

It was a coward move on Steve Moore and he is showing he is again, a coward.

GFY Bertuzzi, be a man for once in your life.

Bertuzzi definition:

-loser

-ballless

-gutless

-unaccountable

-sucker punched. eg "I got Bertuzzied" (you might want to get the "rights" to this Todd! It could pay your lawsuit and puppetmaster.

-stoop lower than a lawyer

-blame others

-SISSY!!

First, he didn't do it...then, he did it, but didn't intend to hurt Moore and now it's, Crawford told me to do it. Exactly how many bridges did he jump off as a child just because he was told to???

If I get hurt in the workplace I sue my employer, not the guy who did it. I guess things are different in the NHL.

Bertuzzi's defense is weak & the sign of a cop out.

"I was only following orders."

Didn't work in 1945 lets hope for the sake of justice that the courts see that it dosen't work in 2008.
