Is Bertuzzi shifting the blame?
Fri, March 28, 2008

Former Vancouver Canucks coach Marc Crawford has been dragged into a multi-million dollar lawsuit over NHL forward Todd Bertuzzi's infamous sucker punch on Steve Moore.

Moore originally file the suit against Bertuzzi and courts documents show the former NHL player has now consented to name Crawford in the suit as well.

Bertuzzi sought to have Crawford included in the suit based on the claim that his NHL contract compelled him take direction from his coach.

Is Bertuzzi shifting the blame onto his coach, or is Crawford also liable for what happened on the ice in 2004? Have your say in our forum.

The entire Duck's team are punks inlcuding the GM. That jackass will be a perfect fit in TO. Bring back Roberts, Domi, Corson, Tucker, Gilmour etc. Has beens pretending to be decent hockey players.

If the Ducks should repeat as champs it will be a black eye on hockey having a punk like Bertuzzi be a cup winner when he really should have been in jail.

Bertuzzi is nowhere near the player he used to be (before the incident). Whether you want to call him a "star" still is up to debate.

He should have been permanently banned from playing hockey in the NHL.

Maybe something like this (or worse) will happen again in the NHL and they'll wake up and do something about it.

The NHL had a chance to show itself as a legitimate sport and blew it by reinstating this clown. Yeah he's shifting blame and notice this came out around the time of the Roy family incident.

The NHLPA also shows its bush-league status by completely backing Bertuzzi and doing nothing for Moore - who is also a paying member of the PA.

Bertuzzi is a scum bag. I hope Dallas knocks the Ducks out in a sweep. Bertuzzi doesnt deserve to be called a " champion " but more like a chump.

Now he is playing with a bunch of other goons he is a tough guy every shift.

I hope you get yours Bertuzzi, watching you run around the ice against Dallas is comical. I use to think you were a talented hockey player, now I think you are a buffon on skates!

Yes he is. Bertuzzi doesnt want to be the only one coughing up the millions Moore is seeking in his lawsuit so he is dragging Crawford into. Who knows maybe the NHL head office will get involved and put up millions to keep this out of a court of law.

Should be interesting to see what happens.

Bertuzzi is no longer a star by a longshot. Sure, the coach might have spurred Bertuzzi to get some revenge, but Bertuzzi was the one who threw the cowardly punch.

Punching someone from behind then jumping on them is pretty cowardly in my opinion.

Just goes to show that once you're in the "Big Leagues" it ain't your fault anymore!

It seems that more & more professional athletes tend to think that its "someone elses fault" every time they get caught in a rough spot.

Time to pay the fiddler!

As far as I'm concerned, all of these supposedly professionals need to get a reality check; last time I looked, the average working guy takes his pill when he/she screws up.

Fun to think though that whatever transpires out of all of this, everyones lawyer will be raking in the dough... (Damn, I should have listened to Mom & became a Pro's lawyer; whatever happens, I get paid)...

Of course he's shifting the blame, he's a "star", he thinks he shouldn't have to take any responsibility and let's face it, never has. He is and was 100% in the wrong thinking this is a hockey play. Crawford and Bettman are completely in the wrong as well. And those of you complaining about how Moore's hit was dirty and he intended to hit Naslund, I don't recall any of you complaining when Scott Stevens skated down the ice with his elbow up and knocked Paul Kariya cold because Paul should have kept his head up. But I guess this was OK because Moore wasn't a star, and guys like Stevens and Howe receive accolades despite the fact that elbowing is illegal. Remember that when the more popular and rich kid beats up yours and gets away with it.
