Are the Leafs pulling off good moves?
Mon, November 24, 2008

The Maple Leafs have traded Carlo Colaicovo and Alex Steen to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for forward Lee Stempniak.

Stempniak, 25, a native of West Seneca, N.Y., scored 27 goals two seasons ago.

This season, he has three goals and 10 assists through 14 games.

Is this a good move for the Leafs? Have your say in our forum.

GO LEAFS GO:

your sign-in name says it all. The main reason Burke is staying is because the Maple Leafs brain trust didn't want to eat the rest of his salary, but also because Burke looked at the state of your pathetic excuse for a hockey team and decided even the problems in Anaheim will be easier to deal with than the Maple Leafs.

Your comment about Edmonton is laughable, much like your love life. Yes, they missed the playoffs...barely. If the ridiculous 3-point system didnt exist they would have finished 6th in the West, and have a team full of excellent young prospects. The only thing Toronto can look forward to is the Teachers Pension Fund making a boatload of money off of suckers like you. As for our 50 cm of snow I say, LOL. Toronto got nailed by storms all winter and we got one. ONE. So put that in your pipe and smoke it junior, and keep your idiocy locked inside your delusional head where it belongs.

GO OILERS GO.(cause we at least have something to look forward to lol!)

I wonder if it would be possible to NOT have an article about the leafs for more than (we'll start with) 24 hours? ...Leafs, the Paris Hilton of Hockey.

How about hiring 5 die-hard hockey fans of various ages and backgrounds to form the Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Limited General Management and Hockey Operations Committee, or MLSELGMHOC. Give them a mandate to win the Cup within 5 years. If they don't win, hire Cliff Fletcher back as interim manager, and try to get Burke away from the Ducks.

LOL...LMAO...

Whatever happens and whomever gets hired...too much will be expected too soon. The new manager will only be able to get the wheels in motion for a rebuilding of this team before he will be let go.

Until the last of the no-trade clowns are gone...the stench of this losing franchise will remain.

Until the loyal fans stop attending games and stop buying merchandise, this franchise will continue to achieve mediocrity with a few spurts into the playoffs.

The past has proven that's all that needs to be done to continue to be the most VALUABLE NHL team in the league.

Time for Leaf fans to cheer quietly from their couches and cross their fingers.

Nothing will change in Leaf's land until the ownership situation changes. Any self-respecting GM would be foolish to walk into a situation where they have zero control. And I must say, as a non-Leaf's fan, I'm loving every minute!

I must be missing something, will someone explain to me why Burke would make such a good gm in Toronto ? His record isnt as good as most seem to think it is. Bryan Murray ( gm in ottawa ) played a big part in the building of the Ducks, Burke was just the one that was there when it all came together.

The Ducks wont be as good next year and probably fight for the 8th spot with a few teams. Neidermayer and Selanne will both retire this time for good.

Next summer Burke will probably leave the Ducks after barely making the playoffs and losing in the first round 2 years in a row.

There are better and more qualified people out there than Burke.

i don't think the leafs lost anything with burke staying in Anaheim. there are far better candidates out there. and they better wait until after the end of the post-season, anyway.

Toronto should clean house. 3 years in a row now they haven't made the playoffs from what i was told. The Senators may have blew it this season, but at least they got their foot in the door and 11 years straight i might add.

GO LEAFS GO, love the snow, brings with it ice and pond hockey...you enjoy TO and all it's big city problems, what was it the other day I read in the news, 24 days without a murder. We can't remember ever having one.

Glad that Burke is out of the picture. Now go after the best guy out there -- Doug Wilson.
Wally, 2008-04-24 06:18:02

Brian Burke put widespread rumours regarding his future to rest Wednesday, announcing he will remain with the Anaheim Ducks through at least the 2008-09 season....

I would say he will definitely take the Leafs GM job now, because after that pathetic first-round exit by the Ducks and the impending retirements of Selanne and Niedermeyer, Anaheim's lack of depth will be exposed and he will look bad, something Burke HATES.....

nice call Nitwit...errrr I mean Norbit..

I hear TSN is calling you right now for an INSIDERS job...hahahahahaha!

Pete...bottom line ...your team (Oilers) stinks too no playoffs this year either.

Hope you get another 50 cm of snow. Have a nice summer.
